My Micra Dot Rising To The Top! :)

well some how its gone from being a perfectly good tyre last monday to this!!!! like wtf this is getting silly theres no point buying tyres for them to go poo again
 
Cutting into the arches? Have you used them without the spacers, could find they're your problem possibly. Can you here anything different with these tyres? I ask because when mine was cutting it was quite obvious from the sound of the arches scraping.
 
Why so much poke on the rear, get some smaller spacers. Thats definately arch contact. Get a pit of pipe and roll them ghetto style, make sure there's loads of pressure in the tyres (other wise they just deform) and some weight in the boot (couple of mates - other wise the car just lifts). Once you have had a go round the top of the arch check the join between the bumper and wing, its very pointy, cut as much of that back as you can. It doesn't look like it could contact but mintyfresh was finding it did.

Look up inside the arch and see if there is paint being removed from the arch lip - that will let you know where there is contact.

It doesn't look to have worn through the tread blocks yet, so I don't think you have reached panic point yet, if it starts gauging into the body of the tyre start getting a bit more concerned.

You might want to think about replacing with 165/55s, not quite as small diameter as the 175/50's but close to half the price, and you'll gain a bit of clearence from the slight stetch.
 
well thts where my problem is coming about as there is no obvious signs on the arch i havent heard the tyre hitting the arch at all as it is a very noticeable noise...

even if it was catching it would be a miracle simply as there is about 3" of arch gap

im not running them spacers that was simply a test run of them and correct i think small would deffinately be better
 
Hold the car up on the tow hook and drop the springs out, reassemble the shocks and then lift the axle under the spring cups each side. You'll soon be able to see where contact is/is more likely. I must get this done on mine but I have so much to do with home and work at the momemnt I'm just not getting the chance.

But been lookung at tires and im tempted by 165/65/13 will also slightly increase rolling radius

Well i can get 4 toyo 350's in 165/65/13 for like 128quid which will give better height better radius slight stretch etc will be a bit better option when my tires have gone
 
humm well it turns out after furthur investigation that there is tire on the arch so it must be touching but not enough to make a noticeable noise!

my pipe arrived today and im really quite unhappy with it...

its the sportex cat back system and looks like its make by monkeys and packed by a derranged mental person... all scraped up and spen t about half an hour peeling off the damn brown packing tape!

i think i will by giving it a good old prep and a go over with some satin matt black i have just to make it neat and tidy and for a little protection!

The peter lloyd one? mine is rusting already :( just happens no matter what paint you put on there the lower you go the crap gets underneath! :(

how long have you had yours? i may paint it the best i can this time and then keep an eye on it... then as each piece fails i will gradually upgrade it to maybe the janspeed system prehaps

It's not falling apart, just surface rust really but no exhaust will survive the uk weather lol stainless steel is the only real way but at the cost of mild steel you may aswell replace it when necassary :p
 
hah yeah all come back to the weather! as long as it sounds good and gives more go! as mine is still the 1ltr tiny exhaust going through my cg13 :p

I didn't think there was much difference if any between the 1.0 and the 1.3 exhaust diameter?
 
i wasnt thinking so much the front, i was thinking more along the lines of the rear due to there being more or less weight there more often, which is a pain the only way i can think of is a spring that is stupidly stiff but at the same times gives decent handling and isnt rock solid with there being no weight in the rear

Hmmm.... i don't think there is such a thing? well only if you went maybe -35mm lol

i will need it as im going in with only the mid cat! so ill try and get the mid cat as hot as possible to work at its best to scrape through it lol

well if you book it in at 9 and they mot it at 10 then the cat would be cool/cold. why only the second one?
 
well i fitted the engine with a decat on the manifold and the rest of the exhaust hasnt been touched.... i do have a 1st cat but its well stuck on the manifold i could get it off but id be swearing and blinding with no fingers and a load of snapped bolts

i seem to be getting ever more paranoid that somethings up with the engine again.... but to stop my paranoya im gnna go buy a compression tester soon....

but it cant be the hg as its not loosing coolant or oil and neither are getting carbonated...

funny as i done it up in a few minutes... didnt realise it needed time to compress properly....

roll on summer when i have more time to do stuff to my car....

like...

- open grill and bumper
- straighten out front end
- fit popper kit from an sr
- smooth boot
- sort of rest of paint
- fit zaust
- get and fit corsa coilovers
- strip weight without making uncomfortable


now what engine mods to do next as i havent really given it a proper thought
 
well crazyily i just bought the suspension tehe :D

but im just wondering as i want to still be able to take a couple of people in the rear i would love to know whats the stiffest rear spring i could use? i know the civic strings are good but wondering if theres anything better?

for instance on the spring one end has tight coils and one end its loose and far apart...

so say i cut them from the end thats far apart which will drop the car quick but the stiffer section of the spring will still be present

your thoughts please!
 
oh thats alright then :) that means i dont have to worry then i will just make do and see how it goes.... will post up when they arrive.... need this car to be fun again... needs change!
 
toyo proxes were sold and taken away last night which is a great relief and a bit of money back in my pocket... after i had them for like 3 months i lost like £6 on them which is still pretty good.... and the bloke came in some lovely mk1 golf with the 195's stretched to the max!!!!
 
right well today i let my paranoya today so off i went and bought a compression tester and heres goes i also took pics of each plug as i went and seems all good

so as it can be seen its running well with good compression so i cannot complain :D also never stand too close to the rear after doing this as the clouds of smoke from burning off the oil lol

also i ended up in a little race with a fellow CG13 micra last night and this happened in my boot

Good subs are gay! Front speakers will do I don't even have them! Just one! I've never understood why people have big sterio systems unnecessary weight imo

Yes Will, we also have MOT here in France (Controle Technique, CT) each 2 years for 5years + cars. About 60euros (50£) strictness depends on where you pass it... I still haven't taken this appointment...
What about your results?

Over here its like 45pounds depending where you go its such a rip off!

And as for the sounds i cant get enough! Im have a full rearrange of sound system soon so the componebts are up front instead of on show in the back!

Also r reg we will have a little racey race

Any opinions on the plugs they seem healthy to me

Why apart from them being Bosch I can't see any problem, what the problem you've got
Bosch never seem to get on well with jap cars the heat ratings not up to the challenge imo

right car is going to be sold and or broken at the end of the month im at the end of the line with it... this is it this time ive simply had enough of this... buy a micra and its reliable yeah right not till youve had one and as soon as ive touched something on any car it doesnt work so what is the point... i must be on the wrong career path. everything is so expensive and hard to get with these cars

yeah mate it will keep you running about after the little tike

well im glad it passed its mot makes me wanna keep it for a little longer at least
