check this idle out---------tell me what you think?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkT-VdIh0o0

once you have done the clean up adjust up do this
take car to full operating temp switched off disconected throttle position sensor
start car rev up a few times let it settle(no rad fan) twisted idle screw till 750 rpm switched off
plug in throttle position sensor and start to check idle
should be good
throttle pos sensor 5ohms no throttle,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,then i'll fish out some more interesting vids

right even though i changed thegear box on monday i thought an official update with piccies is in order!

so a couple of days before i took a leaf out of pauls book and painted the gear box and the like new mounts fitted and fitted my new driveshaft output seals

then monday started removing gearbox at like 10am or something once i rolled out of bed and under my car lol

i first thought of removing the clutch and cleaning it all up but i couldnt be bothered with the hassle i just washed it throughwith brake cleaner and not alot of gunk came out as its only done 700odd miles

1303124471563.jpg

and then taken round the back and the new one bought round and fitted...

had massive troublelining it up but i had my mum controlling the trolley jack for me and it went on using the spare wheel holder tool asa small guide and it didnt hang on the input shaft at all! then used the bolts to pull it in and fitted it all back together.... i was going to paint hubs, callipers and paint the drive shafts just to tidy them up but it didnt quite happen lol

and in the end finished at about 4.15 and took for a drive and omg its so quiet and such a smooth and solid gear change which i likey

ALSO DIDNT GET HARRASED BY GYPSYS AND THATUSUALLY HAPPENS CHANGING A WHEEL!

and something im really proud of the other day i dropped below the red line so i got £10 of petrol at £1,33.9 a litre and so fair its done 56 miles and sitting just on the top of the red line!

so i reckon 10-15 moremilesand ill get some more and i reckon thats really good dont you think?

When i did my box, I just sat on the car and lifted the gearbox with one hand and lined it up with my foot, then used the other hand to put the bolt near the dizzy in. seemed to work fine...

i am so happy i have fallen in love with car once again!!!!!!! its now amazingly smooth and seemless at everything with mega poke for annoying other people!!!!!! it even gets them 15" wheels spinning most of the way through 1st i love it haha i found the main problem with my engine gear box combi is the revs for speed haha

but i will live

well went and collected the minilites today and they are fitted one little issue was that the one with the slow puncture had wouldnt take air so i took it to be done and some balancing too which cost a little more than i hoped but all is good now...

i need a new set of nuts for them as mine are a little big for them lol!

so here are some pictures! it needs to go down a lot more to fiull them damn arches! but it will be stupidly low hehe

however when the satnav says 70mph my speedo says 81-82mph! and is well out all the way through!

how can this be corrected

big question?

coilovers or chop some coils from my lowering kit??? however front springs sit a little loose as it is

thanks guys looking to go lower as i speak!

however i have 4 of nexussteves wheel nuts which he needs back soon

so i need a set of d1 wheel nuts or the sort with the inner/outer spline

basically something narrow and cant be nicked and will fit nicely... the ones ive borrowed have a special tool thing

well that was a great lot of help! i ideally need to be able to correct my speedo if its at all possible

so i have a choice on suspension

cut what i have but the springs are already loose

cut the rears and strap and then matiz front legs and springs

or corsa coilovers? (which seem to be about £180 on ebay)

Just had a look on the bay Will and they all seem to be 35mm kits. Why not give Humphris a bell on 01865 748000? I know they used to do 50mm springs :).

Looking good,

In the immortal words of Francis Rossi " Get down, down down deeper and down..."

A tickle with the angle grinder will have that sitting nicely Will. Those 175/50s are quite a bit shorter than the 165/55s I have so don't expect to close that arch gap up completely. I wouldn't worry about the speedo, just remember where 30, 50 and 70 are and go with it. If you are generally using sat nav anyway use that.

If you have some cash to splash a set of corsa coilovers does seem to be the way forward.

okay then well at the premise that the coilover are good but may not last long due to poor quality i may go for the matiz set up but it seems like alot of work which i havent got a clue how to do if i honest and dont have the bits ill need.... thats the only thing holding me back....

i looked through a couple of blogs with the matiz setup but it seems alot of work and beyond me....

humm back to the 15s as they were fine then!

alot of work?.. i did mine in a day with a trip to the scrap yard..lol,

all you have to do is make the upper hole on the lower portion of the front shocks bigger and drill out the hole in the top of the micra tophats, then cut down some civic rear springs....
and mine costs a total of about £60....(Y)(Y)

matiz shocks were from a 1998 and the civic rear springs doesnt really matter as from 1995-1998 they are the same...
just need to cut them down from 11 coils to 7, or lower if you like..lol:wasntme:

well i got some corsa b read dampers today which ive been told are shorted than that of the k11 so they should work well to hold them in! lol
?
may i ask why civic springs? are they stiffer?

right well noone helped me there lol

but today walking to the car to go for lunch at uni like 15people were standing round my car not touching it though dunno wt they were doing but later on having lunch sitting in car park people were like laughing at it :( maybe cos of the arch gap or its cos its a micra who knows!

even though i didnt notice anyone laugh at the compomotives

really pee's me off and makes me just wanna get rid!

Hmmm, I think you'll just have to learn to live with some folk mocking yer car. I'm regularly asked "when are you going to get a decent car sir". Its the mock interest from my collegues that is the most annoying though.

And paint those sills red, it makes it look about 2" higher than it is with them black.

if you didnt want to get mocked then you shouldnt of bought a micra, but peoples reaction quickly changes when you start smoking cars on the by pass, i beat my mate in his bmw 330 coupe and he didnt talk to me for about 2 weeks...only you can unleash the full potential of the micra my son, now go forth..........:grinning:

Wheels look sweet!! Agree it does need a further drop to suit. I was going to go for a set of matiz shocks, civic spring combo, but corsa coilovers where an easier choice and can drop it as far as you want. Regarding the speedo, you could use willtheyfit.com to find the speed ratio and put a marker/tape on your speedo correcting 30mph 50mph 60mph and 70mph for example?

Are these the wheel nuts you need?
Oh, n look here for centre caps(Y)

Yeah I've also had some ups and downs with mine, most people don't care, some laugh and give abuse, some admire you for doing something different, and some get jealous as their girlfriends thinks your cars cuter than thiers lol.

cheers dude well they were the nuts i was looking for but ive bought a different set with a spline drive set up on the inside lol hopefully they will look alright

I've had quite the opposite a few times, the lads have gone something like Ah cool like what you done to yer micra / love yer slots etc, girlfriend has chipped in with you can foxtrot oscar if you think your getting a micra.

haha well i got them corsa b rear shocks but i might just save for coilovers but i want them to last which its obvious that 160quid ones wont last 5 mins

Actually the £160 are perfectly fine for the money, if you need expensive coilovers then that's you

Millions of people world wide run "eBay coilovers" and have no complaints the type of driving you do they will be fine for the street

I wouldn't have them on a turboed car if they were pants

But if you want to pay £500+ and start drilling and hacking them up ten that's your decision but please don't say there rubbish if you can't back it up neither have any experience with them?

i was simply following by what euro-micra said i am very tempted to get them just i know there good but how long will they last but i admit i dont do to many miles so im sure it will be fine... so next couple of weeks ill get them.... so may i ask what is required to make them fit apart from top mounts etc

They will fit with smaller bolts through the top hole on the hub but you will have big negative camber

You have to elongate the top hole so the bolt fits through

If it's not bang on your camber will be odd each side

so using the micra top mounts drill out the hole to allow the threaded part through basically

what about the rear?

didnt you say that you used a spacer at the top or was it someone else?

just a quick update i had a slow puncter on one of the tires so i checked it over today with water in the beads and on the rear they had put a weight ment for a steelie and was pushing the bead away from the rim and breaking the seal.... so i removed it and stuck it on the balancing machine!!!

then it wanted something like 80 where a massive chunk of weights already were... so i was suggested to rotate the tire on the rim by 180° which i though good idea....

about 45 mins later and as much help as possible later the tyre wouldnt come of the god damn rim! due to such a low profile!

so gave up and just balanced it to 0 according to the machiene and im getting steering wobble again god damn it! so im going to see my friendly garage tomorrow to sort it out!

also bought a little present for the car in the form of a pipe and all will be revealed when the postman brings it :D

i promised myself this a few months ago but never got around to it!

not my cuppa tea :) with 175 they will br 6.5" wide right? just looking at tyres for future reference

i cant even remember what i measured earlier for the balancing machiene

right done a couple of little bits today... not very much but its enough lol

little bit much and im not sure if arch rolling would cover them and i think having arch mouldings only on the rear would look silly so im a little confused

and i noticed this on one of the tires the other side has it a little too i dont know what it was or anything but seems to be getting worse...

and i havent even let the arch hit the wheel yet

an ideas from anyone?
