My Micra Dot Rising To The Top! :)

i dont know about that one but it just makes that its the roll pin as it isnt a tight fit unless i went a little wrong somewhere! but it does get annoying and i only drove it like two miles

I've just fitted a pulsar short shifter myself. Where the stick joins with the connecting rod, you reuse the micras metal sleeve, and put a washer from the pulsar short shifter each side before threading the bolt back through, so there's no movement there other than what they should be. But the main place they rattle is where the ball is held on the stick. Theres a circlip ontop of the ball holding it in place but its slightly loose. I took the circlip off to remove the ball joint and slid a rubber o ring down to the bottom where the metal ball sits, there's a recess which seems to be made for one too, doing that made it a snug fit when put together. And no rattles!:grinning:

got any more of them rubber o-rings? :D

or any sizes?

also mine was second hand so i didnt get any washers with it got damn it! lol

i shall measure up and size up when i have some time!

how much space you reckon there should be so that it doesnt lock up? like 1.5mm washer each side?

my kit came with 4 washers, and I only used two:) These were closer to 5mm each iirc and still had some play before tightening up. I might be able to send you the others, but you should be able to get a couple from halfords easily. And I found my rubber o-ring off the garage floor:)

haha i see thats a bummer! well ill have to make do with what i have a fiddle! are you seriously sure that there 5mm thick each side? that sounds like hell of alot to me! lol

haha ill pull it apart again tomorrow for a closer inspection :)

if you could measure them dude asap so i can get meself some washers :p or if you dont need the supplied ones ill take the two you have left for the price of postage?

:D:D:D:D:D:D

I can measure them but wont be until tomorrow 7pmish. And yeah I can post 'em for ya, would prefer you to buy your own though so I have some spare myself:laugh: but if you can't find any I can get them for ya.

Well your 1 guess beat my 3/4 Will, the washers I've used are about 1.5mm thick, I thought they were thicker:wasntme:

R-REG-SR

how is the throw on the ho compared to this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od4dkduRtZI

Throw is pretty quick, tad shorter than yours maybe, but close I think. I managed to get a clip before my battery died got 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 1st. Wish I could have done it again wthout snagging 5th at the end, oh well, needs a little learing:blush:video link

Well i used rubber innertube with a hole for a like bush in the bottom works nicely!

And i found an o ring to put under the 1st circlip as u go down the lever but still rattles a bit :-( so maybe another? Im gnna remove the whole thing again and check it over anddd use more o ring in there

I put mine at the bottom, and iirc as the weekend was a long time ago, I put 1 layer of electrical tape around the shaft between the ball, just try to reduse the amount of metal on metal contact and make it all snug.

ah so the top one was wrong :(so remove the entire thing again and remove the top circlip and lower it through and then place a ring around the bottom circlip and fit it back though... i see

Couldn't resist

5 layers of the stuff smothered in grease makes it smooth but softens it up but its good if i see u one time u can try it

only movemont is from the actual joint and the movement in the gear linkage

Very nice wheels mate if you are after a kit to keep them shiny or get them more shiny give me a shout I've just polished my e30 lips and they look lovely the kit I bought came to around £11 posted! Check my thread you'll see what I mean :)

humm karl very funny! well i cleaned it yesterday and it rained today so its gnna be all dirty again :(

however yesterday i also had it all booked in for the exhaust to be done but im going to go back as i dont think it was even done at all it still blows :(

i dont get how it'll rise to the top without you having a grinder and pot of gun gum:grinning:

see now what my friends gone and done!

i wouldnt say a grinder would help... but can gun gum be used on joints? where it slots together and the cuts are its pushed right in but still blows by so i may a small amount of gun gum on these points

I use high temp black silicon :D

if the garage done there job it should already be pushed together but i know gun gum isnt great and falls off very easily... scott whats the sealent stuff?

Maybe it hadnt set and you gave it a "spirited drive" and blew all the stuff out?

and its just high temperature Black Silicon from a motor factors or B&Q man. Custom Phil at Unique Exhausts doesnt use gaskets, only silicon and they never blow if left to set.

To an extent yes, but it should only be used from the cat-back where temps arent as hot as manifold area etc. Same with gungum, its not recomended to be used forward of the cat, but folk do anyway.

ok
so what do you think bout this will kid ,make it to the top or not?

i cant make it to the top of a tree so i doubt it! id want to change the title of my blog cos its lame and seems to big up something thats pants haha

ill try and find my old gun gum and mould it around the joints nicely! if i remember rightly it seems to cling to gloves better than everything else! haha

and before i used it between my mani and down pipe on my renault but yeah failed as the pressure is high here

your still here!!
i thought you'd gone:grinning:
the gun gum would be better if the exhaust peices were off and you put the gun gum/high temp sealant in while or before wedging pieces together
(you'd make it up the tree if one of these guys set theyr hungry dogs on you)

Yeah as R said, no point just covering the blow in sealent, wont do much good. It needs to be taken apart and sealent applied before refitting to make it seal efficiently.

i can see your point mate but they slot together about 2 inches and it requires a hell of alot of wiggling and bashing to get it in properly... so by the time youve done that the sealant would have gone everywhere and would possibly be less effective haha

alright yeh but gun gum mixes with water so adding a very little in the pot and stirring helps with that, a little

how and why would it go every where?????????? amazing
oh you meaning you and the girly would do it (the exhaust fitting)
you doing that sining and wining?

ill pick up some sealant asap and do this but ill sort out the short shifter while im at it as its a hell of alot easier to do with the exhaust not there!!!!!!!!!!! lol...

so just smear the sealer around the male section if you like and then do it like that? haha

pretty much, just a bead of sealer round the two connecting parts. Just make sure you leave it plenty time to cure or youll be doing it all again...

haha yeah that would be a pain! just will be annoying cos as they slot together it will just push the sealer out! ill make sure i put enough on :p
