My Micra Dot Rising To The Top! :)

Haha, what does a spring look like when its been bounding around? like tigger's tail? jj mate.
If the springs were in bad shape then that would point to valve hitting the top of the piston (which would cause the damage seen). are you sure the piston is ok, not marks in the soot/carbon build up?? I still think revs have killed this engine.
Get that new head on and should all be fine:)

well i havent taken it above where the limiter should be and im putting the limiter back on after martin removed it... and theres a video on here of his like ragging the engine haha... maybe i just got carried away...

also no marks as all on the piston, can still see honing marks on the bores so all should be fine once head is on.....

the valve looks very much burnt out so i will test the injectors once the head is on... if they fail i will fit my old ones....

so much for buying a full engine then putting it back a couple of weeks later haha.... but she will live again soon...

my plan is to get the faces cleaned and give the head a clean and then i will be waiting for the head gasket then head can go on and timing will be sorted then check clearences

well good morning guys my the 998cc head with the 1275 cams going in is nearly ready and the shimming is a pain in the bum i must say.... luckily i have two heads worth of shims to fiddle with... just going to get the last few measured up tomorrow and then hopefully it will all come together saturday and or sunday...

once the head is on i will then test the injectors into milk bottles to ensure they are all squirting as they should haha

well thats an bum hole i need a 272ish shim and i aint got any lol.... no time to worry though need to get it in this weekend so will just have to shove biggest i have in and hope lol

tap-tap will  you could grind that valve in, to close the gap eh

well im working to .25mm so if i can narrow it to at least .28 or .30 its still within the limits...

but luckily all the vavles seal well as each held white spirit for about 20mins and didnt drop

but i have none of the equipment to do it mate there must be something odd though.... how can it be that for out mate i dont understand

right well the issue with the shim is sorted it was due to the fast i put a 239 in there and i had written down 259 haha which threw me right off...

all shimming is done within manufactures specs which im glad about!

so far water pump is sorted and swapped and the o-ring at the bac of the pump is sorted. chain is ready and im ready... its simply a case of tomorrow cleaning the block face up and then fitting head and you know how it goes!

well all is pretty much done and some of you may not agree with this but with the angle tighten bit i done a little bodge

basically for one i got a protractor and worked out what torque got me to the 60° then done them all to that may be a little over but im sure it cant hurt lol

but i will finish it off tomorrow hopefully start it up and hope all is well then test my injectors to ensure they are all goods!

even my missus was helping today

right i have some good news she is running and very smooth unlike before.... so she must be running on all 4 so i have now left my 3cylinder club and rejoined the 4 cylinder club haha

only ran for about a min as no coolant as of yet and still need to test injectors... im well happy the timing is correct though

hehe r-reg your engine is safe indeed!

all up and running now very smooth indeed few rattles at first etc but all happy now...

heres a pic of the piston which the valve didnt hit!

i took a precaution and swapped the iffy injector with one from the old rail just to be on the safe side...

pic from when i done my valve leakage test on old head and all is spiffing!

took her for a blast down my road and came back opened bonnet and then found that the rocker seal haddent sealed and covered the injectors! so i washed down with the amazingness of brake cleaner!

there does seem to be a slight whir from the gear box and it only happens on acceleration but i think its a cool whir lol

heres a couple of pics of my car in front of r-reg's

then later on i went tpo go out in r-reg's car and it had a flat battery yet it was fine the day before! so i had to jump it from mine lol

fairly big let down today as my spoiler which ive been prepping for a while at lunch at work was ready for primer and i fell off the tressle and all 3 cracks split back open and even worse! but i am in the process of getting it done lol

plenty more to come from the micra dot dot

Nice pictures with the two cars! Shame you didn't took a picture with a message for my project Supporting Japan, double would have been cool.
.
Keep up the good work Will ! It will look awesome with the spoiler.

Cheers
Seb

Thanks for the kind words seb!

Car is running brilliantly and goes well on the road too!

Asfor the spoiler its now in primer and full of stopper due to sloppy filling and being in a rush lol. One crack went through almost the whole spoiler so i ground it down and riveted in a metal plate across the crack and fibre glass smothered all over the top and bottom!

Now its in primer ill stick it on the car then flat it as it will leave no room to flex and crack again!

Peace out! xD

thanks will for taking care of the sr,and the next time you need help you can rest assured it wont be from me:grinning::grinning:
is your engine very smooth when you race it now and power easily got?

yup its very smooth and pulls well better than it did before! cant wait to get a 0-60 time!!!!!

howevrr the idle problem is still present but ill look into that soon!

no mate you aint doing that
your doing this
http://www.micra.org.uk/threads/43069-How-to-configure-the-IAV-amp-idle-speed-with-Nissan-Datascan
and SEB'S guide has info
do this correctly and thats another thing that aint causing the idle problem
you got the ayres manual,to check spec of the main bits
i like the part about flinging the waxstat idle_few grams of weight gone
how was the idle on the SR in comparison? web site,,,,,speak man speak i tell you,,,,,,,,,,:grinning:

the idle was fine on yours mate.... im going to try sebs quide except from do the soldering as ive already done it..... and i dont have the datascan software

so maybe if someone who has it could put up with me for a little while to have a look
:D

but im going to get one of them ecu talk things very soon

both guides are good
leave the data scan out for now,but do EVERYTHING! else fling the waxstat as polly orders:grinning:
meter for checking the throttle position sensor is at .5ohm?? (its in the manual) at idle-no acc pedal

maybe the wax doesnt get hot enough for some reason or has worn out... so if i remove the unit and seal off the pipe it will be fine yes?

my t/b water heater pipes are,nt connected will, you just have to back the snail off so that it does,nt hold the throttle open at all

so what are they connected too? lol ill just block it off and back that thing off i know the bit you mean seems like a rocker which pushes down on the tb so if i cut it off or something it will just sit there wasting its life whishing that it had a use

coolant pipes aint they, i just joined mine together, and back the screw off so that the snail retracts

haha i see what did you use to connect them? i may look into that in the next couple of days..

cant it be backed off so that the coolant still flows through it and doesnt actuate the wax stat?

Well after sticking 150 miles on it all seems well except a noisy clutch when disengaged and when engaging is sqeals then when clutch has been applied it works lovely! Its really annoying! Would it be the 120oc grease i used worn itself dry?

And a little like scraping noise from the chain! No idea wtf it is

right well that noise from the clutch is worse and is making more noise and only makes no noise when its fully engaged.... i need to get the box off i reckon and take a good look.... main thing is it will take me like 2 days to do the whole thing and knowing me it will go wrong and it wont make any difference... so anyone about which will be prepared to help me at a small cost which knows there way around to do it in a few hours?

yeah mate i assembled it all to that! but there must be something thats not right!

but if i pull it all out and cant see anything wrong ill be stoofed
