wherever you weld around the original shaft is always gonna be the weakspot tho eh, welding at an angle might help (around the shaft in an oval fashion).I think my welder will fill it with weld then still holes into it and weld into them and sleeve it and weld that up then drill more holes and then fill those sleeve holes with weld and make it extra strong. I've just got to make sure I don't keep flooring it in 1st or 2nd gear at slow speeds as it just wheelspins and puts excessive force on the welds when it gets grip!
That's my theory anyway

personally................... i would just drive the damn car andy
Exactly my thoughts, but I didn't like to say. Also I'd want to well and truly test those drive-shafts, and save the paint money for some custom ones just in case.
I've wanted to just get out there and test it out but if it did go so soon I'd be heartbroken haha
Mine was out on my standard 1.0 until i fitted the Almera Gti wheels and tyreswell no because if these do hold out then ive just wasted £600+ on a set of shafts i didnt need
Anyhow they seem to hold up very well.
Took it for a trip to Liverpool One today shopping. did use half a tank though! haha
i had booted it a lot during the trip there once it had warmed up fully and it backfires like hell and sounds mint! goes like stink too so shafts seem to be upto the job.
however ive noticed my speedo is approx 10mph out somehow, dont know why but it said i was doing 80mph but GPS and my mate in another car said we were cruising at 70mph (his cruise control was on) so bizzare really, any idea's? gonna have to check certain speeds with my sat nav ive got.
Your running normal unleaded in that? Hopefully its set up for it.
