what did you do to your micra today ?

Keep looking when I take a grinder and cut the driver chassis legs and push it in more and more on the crank pully side, many people are scared but am not

Referring back to my chassis legs been cut and more been cut where crank pully goes, warning don't start this if you ain't sure no ones in the UK have done this on a k11 am 100 % sure on this, am backed up by Google and many people who has told me its never been done. I have got 3 main cut and welded plate in my car, I haven't done a blog coz I don't like blagging, no ones seen my car yet in flesh, so here's what I done
dc842535f7904180006791d3df9b8445.jpg
all my grinder tools are ready to cut the chassis legs
7cae1d3b780b7aac8d882065b9db96f5.jpg
I lined up where I wanted the bend to go in so I can hammer it in
dc4a59ba778ad3b27c5d6e94f9a4291b.jpg
3e87283cbf8e98a0e7172c3e36974441.jpg
now i cut it in shape and flapper sanded it ready to make a plate
06870f0c8231301f915e4d1d6e95d99a.jpg
you can see the plate it was all made from papper to 1.5 mm sheet, now am ready for tacking it in place
31d0fdc6aa45d066a71572d210e22e60.jpg
am happy with the shape and its flushed in just gona weld now

dbbbd5632f079015f91b6349caf91137.jpg
just showing u how much clearance I need,
a8e199d2b2ac3a7dbeeef90a98f702ed.jpg
bottom is nice and flush
3dc2da0c9ceeee8867853ec314141871.jpg
welded up and filled over it again now gona flap it all up
a08ab263f4d9ad4fdd43d20ef01e2988.jpg
you can see how much it goes in ,
e6251fb226c1f4040c3647918e4494fe.jpg
am happy with that lets paint it
eca84c1d4c8add3789c49e00e085e219.jpg
that's sorted now,

Now it's time to start on my crank pully I will show u hints and tip so you don't loose any stealth or weakness,
ea0d4abec09b8c7032b81154b531f7e0.jpg
where my hand was showing that's where I will make 2 cuts each end,
203135530ae38906d6ce0afc829d7a6f.jpg
now that was cut not too much in or lower now gona cut a line on top and bottom
f6360038e1a6eb824c1df961a2a13fba.jpg
I done this for a reason, on the chassis legs there is 2 plates in each panel and I was careful so I can do this
c1b802618b2accc0e293876283e55209.jpg
that is on the legs so this is my idea turn it around so it's like this
af104d01d815dd4c363178314add61a6.jpg
that's only way I did clean cuts so I can reuse the same metal and I won't loose any stealth or weaken nothing, time to tack and weld
6d8eb97fcb0e0c3e192d6cec0b0b7c24.jpg
c1abfa98af54b2539d0fbba7c0d9c5b0.jpg
very happy all lines up
872b9840c00208f09255e93a39764b05.jpg
I welded it in the first plate then 2nd welded so each ones getting its own weld,
95eea410a966e4a7612f0f7eef5efe22.jpg
going nice and easy so I don't miss anything out
f9ff67464374b9ed9d30eab3da1a12b1.jpg
you can see clearance if u check your k11
590627284bcac73b1e3945450bab69e4.jpg
all done flapper now paint
a2680aab49e9c442837fca961b3357ba.jpg
now let's see them both so u can see how much room I made by 2 hours work and saved over 500 pounds in labour

what u think @frank

I think you should probably add some small braces (triangulation) where you've cut bits? Would help strengthen the area

And just to clarify, you're doing an SR20 swap? Lots of people have done them before bud

Yeh I will add the triangular bits in Tommow, I doubt sr20 needs crank cutting out, or legs bashing in,

Ok the sr20 has been done on the passager side where cuts been made but I think passager side legs not been bashed and welded

Ive read somewhere on the forum about a brakelight draining battery. Ive recently had battery problems that were solved with a new bat but my left side rear brake was black and burnt out? Anyone have any ideas??

canbus type cars can do weird things (k12 etc) where drive-by-throttle software uses the brakelight signal input (ie, brake and throttle on at the same time) but k11 brakelights are permanently live, a sticking switch will hold the brakelights on even with the car locked up

Thanks! Id best have a look today and make sure dont want to wreck the new battery too. I thought it was my amp or headlights and rewired everything, even the radio at least its neat now

Seeded car 13 for the weekend!
So engine oil change and gearbox oil change(half done).
Spanner check well needed after last weekend!

Nice work, but I think your build deserves its own thread / blog / whatever you want to call it.

Forums are about sharing and discussion, and about showing others how you resolved issues and solved problems.

Keep up the good work.

:)

Chris.
Thanks for comment, there is many reasons why I haven't put up a blog, I will keep it this way till few more weeks Till it's driving and mot passed then I will add all my 100 pictures and write over 10 pages of the build thank

@Azzydot But Why? People are more likely to read it as it happens than sit down for half a day and try catch up.

I think you're mixing up "writing a blog" with "writing a book"!

:)

Oic. Haters gonna hate.

I stopped caring about what other people thought about my projects a long time ago.

The people who matter won't mind what you do, and the people who do mind?

Well they just don't matter.

;)

Chris.
Well your right there but still I don't wana do a blog when it's done I'll probley do a pic of the engine bay and that's about it,

Holy crap you could have been at JAE in about an hour.

Maybe we need a map of who is where, that way you will know just where all the Micra dudes and dudetes are.

:)

Chris.
I have heard of meet up local but not into that tbh I don't mind anyone coming to view my car

Ok let's start with slim line fitting on k11 there is 3 ways of doing this
Stock Micra reads on Ecu with temp switch which then kicks the fan on

Other way is take the red wire which is on the Ecu and feed it to a on and off switch and other end would go on a fan ground wire now u would have a switch to on it anytime,

3rd one is have a temp sensor switch in the rad water pipe and the wires will just need cuttin off the old one and connecting it in the new temp,

Did mines today with temp switch in rad and works a dream pictures to come

so here are the pics the green wires going in battery 12v , red wire is from the Ecu this going in my temp switch and then back into a ground, when cars on idle and warms up it kicks in

A thread called micra nation. People showing where they are. Btw azzy i saw the haynes book does it give you the entire ecu pinout?? Does the book for the facelift do so too?
