The 1.3 Turbo Battle####

It's a pretty well put together car actually, (had a good old poke around). I'll never like the boost control setup though...

The major upside to that car is that Elite Racing Transmissions now offer both full dog and helical gear packs for the CG boxes at very reasonable prices, even with bespoke ratios, since the current owner has busted so many.

Re: Bought & Sold. A lot of the time, yes. Things are bought and sold on pretty quickly and Matt is usually the person who ends up as the facilitator due to his wide field of contact. I am not sure why exactly, but it is probably down to finances and/or practicality.
Yeah its a solid car, Its a preety lush motor, preety clean as well but it would be for a facelift - made to be a pre. the bay is nice and tight and well laid out, its nice to see supporting for the turbo and various small considerations which make the whole thing. The interior is great as well! I dont think that is micra gear. Yeah its boosted like the high power cossies 5th injector and all that gubbins.

He still blew the last dog box haha. powerful thing it is.

I cant understand buysoemthing then flogging it back cheaper. When this shell has had enough I think I will be visiting him for a widebody, shell and axle. On that note, is anything doen to the front end for added width? just offset on wheels or kit car arms?

Wide arches Matt does prpoerly, so wishbones, longer drive shafts etc. Them be very expensive though!

Don't recall noting a 5th injector on the car. I'd like to think it runs individuals, as we're long past the days of poor flow performance and atomisation on large injectors now. It'd only need 440's at any rate on that output, which are far from large in the grand scheme.

Most of the stuff on the car is Ford being as it was done by Ray/Harvey. Diff wise, I think matt said they use a Gripper casing and Vauxhall gears to make way for larger internals, then rally shafts and GTIR outers.

Aye on the boxes, it's chewed CV joints and clutches too, but a lot of that is down to use. As I said, the upside is it makes room for cheaper components for the rest of us. Even the guys from Elite will say, unless you are driving like a loon, you shouldn't be breaking anything inside the box.

'Built not bought' is all very well but when you're at the head of the curve and are paying for all the development work it soon becomes something not to brag about. In that sense, it's nice to be the one 'writing another cheque' and paying for something which is now 'off the shelf' and 1/2 the price.

Found this.

Expensive indeed but I would happi;ly take a pre made jobbie off him, one someone has probably lost interest in/funds. Nice to know its done properly. Surely longer shafts lead to more snapping?

I swear I saw one! or was it water injection? anyway, theres always the chance I am talking out my arse.

I remember it having something along those lines with gearbox gubbins... I dread to think how much RnD time that took!

I am in no way slating those at the head of curve if that was taken that way?! I was saying about the fact that matt humphries seems to sell stuff and it comes back to him, no doubt for a cheaper price; for whatever reasons the person has. I was more referencing my inability to allow myself to lose value in something. Or to lose the commitment to complete what I start. Like me buying a wide arch for an example, giving up and then selling it back to matt. Just couldn't do it.

Just realised matt mentioned I had no rear bumper... what else did he say :S

I like cheap, cheap is good, but if I ever wanted to push the boundaries I would never expect anything to be cheap!

No, no slating assumed. I was referring to the current owner breaking stuff and being the one developing.

He just said you drive a turbo micra that's grey and has no rear bumper.

Ah I see! yes indeed, its a shame to see the cars broken and not kept to fix up. One day I will have the cash to something bold. I still want my 2jz Micra :p

Ow, was hoping he would of have said something along the lines of "Have you seen that beaten up peice of **** that yobo Chris is driving, the thing doesn't even have a bumper. Quite frankly it was embarrassing having the thing out front of my shop!" You cant have it all :D

Lol turbo badge is too much of a give away. Letting them think its a limited edition corsa eco tech on the other hand is allowed

we like this one... Changed the wheels over on the micras. Wire brushed faces and copper slipped... She then proceeded to torque up all the wheel nuts. Busy day.

We will keep her on a trial period. When she does a timing chain change we will let her pass to the next stage.

So its been two years and I finally have heating in my house, if you have ever visited you will understand how cold my house gets...

Twist n tape ftw :p

So when she building a turbo corsa?
she has asked when can we build her a car. i did say to her it would make more sense planting a bigger engine in a k11 for her. or I build a new car and she gets the battleship. engine plant would mean it was less agro for her.

As above post + not the time right now. Plus I should really commit to what I said previously. If I am going to go up in power I would sooner do a rwd conversion. I need to get the handing and the power out of the battleship and enjoy her for a while with track and event. See what happens.

You've plentiful power on tap at the mo. Tackle your handling and come play at cadwell in May?

Rwd will be a handful with a short wheelbase but will be a good build

I've bought 225lb rear springs and 300lb fronts, you can drive it once they're on and decide if you want different habdling etc

Well if ur my friends you would do the maths and tell me what to buy

225lb rear spring
280lb front spring
Should give a fast road feel
Standard rear anti roll bar
No front arb
Rate adjustable shocks :)

Should get you started ;)

That's a typical tarmac rally setup in a K11 should suit you well

I could tweak your suspension to Kingdom come anf you'd hate it. Its based on how you drive

Springs are your base
Arbs and dampers are your fine tuning
