The 1.3 Turbo Battle####

I was thinking the same thing... The shafts no doubt get pushed and pulled as the engine rocks back and forward? Also just vibration I'm general. The solid mounts would take away from the hubs. But would still find its way back to the parts and losen parts regardless.? I just didn't used enough threadlock I suppose and the parts haven't settled since the rebuild. I reckon I could whack this stuff up again and it will be okay. I find my engine is hammering around the engine bay on gear change and heavy foot work. I think I have a dent on the slam panel and firewall. Solids will need to be thought of.

Matt does a set that i have but iv drilled them out as well as they were just too stiff. Would be fine for pure rally / circuit but i like having a Sunday drive as wasnt keen on the constant buzzing! As you say potential for loosening of parts.

Maybe worth having a look at the polyurathane / rubbers you can pour into an original mount to stiffen them up?

Il be doing this with my rear engine mount when the engine next comes out :)

when i wedged the rubber insert into my rear mount it stopped a lot of movement chris (throttle on and lift).
but the top mount was moving fore and aft also, so i fitted rubbers either side and that cured all movement (solid/uprated mounts are for masochists only :) )

Do you have solid engine mounts Chris or the factory ones?

Just thinking maybe solid mounts (though theres alot more cabin vibration) might help the extra snatch the diff/engine put on the hubs when you give it the load pedal?

Just me thinking out loud :)

more vibration through the chassis, seats and especially steering wheel so some bolts are more likely to be shakened loose, but cos the engine doesn't move about the bay so much, the gearstick remains more stable during on-off throttle.

don't think solid/stock engine mounts have much effect on the driveshaft nut, the movements too slow n smooth.

the spline end of the shaft has a tiny amount of give against the female hub spline (or else u wouldn't be able to slide the shaft through).

when the LSD stutters during turns on the other hand, that loud "shock" is transferred directly onto the shaft and it's that tiny give which gradually allows the shock to "loosen" the shaft nut like an impact gun.

my LSD has been rebuilt as a 1.5way and less preload so it's less "snappy" and more "progressive" and doesn't stutter loudly so there's no shock to loosen the hub nut. nut us also thread locked to ensure its secure.

I have nylon and polybush mounts it vibrates alot inside but I'm used to it :) I don't have vibrating loose issues

Plus it is a full on competition car... its a daily as an afterthought ;)

Hmmm what to do. Sorry I haven't been on much of recent guys just been backing of the car... Relaxation from our is nice... Shame I have now gotten ill... Typical

Don't blame you mate. Your worked hard for the break :)

Yeah your thick skull. Brew winter wheels are for when you have really nice wheels for the summer... Where are these?

Um, my almera alloys? And it's more about the fact that my A539's are a strictly summer tyre, and I can run some winter tyres on these bad boys and keep the tyres that are on them atm as spares for almera rims, as they are the same tyres. Plan yo.

hey dude everytime im in reading you phones off :)

you had long enough time off now GET OVER HERE,,,,,,,, SHHHTSH ( mortal combat )brap

lol r reg u lie, u never in reading.

So yeah, the micra, been away from it with Uni working coming first place in all honesty. I will metal head gasket after uni and up the boost for bigger figures. Going to pay attention to handling and traction too. she is going to be less stance more G force in the corners.
