The 1.3 Turbo Battle####

So... I have done nothing with the car. For a couple of days. It's going to be left there ... So happy to have to not goo near it for a while. Driving the daily is a pleasure and does not want to kill me every chance it gets. Plus fuel Eco is great. Enjoying chilling ATM.
Bet you almost feel like you have a normal life again!

Good man!
tbh ed.. I cant even look at the thing when I go leave the house. sick of looking at it lol. it stole nearly a year of my life haha. I need some sserious timage sat on the sofa doing nothing before I can welcome it back in to my heart lol. I wont have much time for the sofa over the next few months so we shall see when i get back on modding the thing

haha I think so mate. its an ongoing project over here too... just i need to leave it for 6 months. way too much micra fun...in too little time.

Was good to finally meet you Chris :)
Hopefully it'll be bigger and badder next year :) i almost followed you home due to cold except I stayed and ended getting kicked off for playing in the field

I hope you don't mean JAE field....

BTW chris, glad your having fun. Another example of why if you follow the way I do things they tend to work...

I'm actually DEADLY serious. I banned people from events with MSC for that before.

Its NOT ACCEPTABLE **EVER**

The reputation of the MSC was not built over years at events for stupid people who cannot control their egos to go and screw it up for the club at events.

haha well yes very much so. very worried about the boost just popping over .6 on wot. need a boost controller. well I rate your advice, its not blown up yet lol. you best be getting me to big bhp ed

So the latest challenge... aparently he barely needed to let up on accelerator to avoid going up my arse. was very impressed... I think my clutch isnt enough though, i am getting slip

@ed can I be cheeky and get you to upload the dyno plot scans you took. mine got destroyed when evacuating a wet JAE tent in to the car at 2 o clock in the morning lol

Great pictures, I got a grand total of none of the car, shame really. Nice to see some. Might have to steal some for the page ;)

Yea afraid so :/
I believe a lack of sleep might have led to thoughtless decision
Though in my defence it was the same guy who told me car was "too loud" for whatever reason and to turn it off.. so I did. After he came back and told me not to be a "clever twat" because my idle picked up because I turned the rad fan on

yes alot happier but still want more things to be done. I have even gone to the trouble of turning all updates from the msc off. I will be shutting down for a while hopefully. I think I will give myself an award.. if I get a 1st honours in my degree I am allowed to get the micra pushed to 200 odd hp without forging.
Good news :)
Mines been the same. Ditched in a corner. The 2 weeks prior to JAE it tore me apart
Best focus on that degree then it'll be worth it ;)

Indeed looks like the car needs an Cv joint change...

I just made it back from oxford with one wheel I think. Cv joint is shagged on the near side ... The LSD got me home if true... Great invention.. So worth the buy lol

Anyone got opinions. It is weird noise on left turn and none on right. Accel it sharp turns left. Braking it goes mental with clunking. Jack the car up and put in first to see of both wheels spin or just the right?

I did notice I have a completely torn CV boot with no grease. Shaft is quite mobile. Well have a coffee then go jack up and check.

Should be no discernable play so any play at all is bad... No grease and split boot almost sells it for me. Still desn't explain the veering to one side unless that's a road camber issue

You watch frank is going to be ficking right. Would be logical. Going to do the diff test out of curiosity

I vote a combination of bust cv and slightly out tracking causing you to follow the road camber on power on.

check ur lower arm front bush cos all that torque n braking tends to rip the weak standard bushing apart so it veers one way under power and veers the other way during braking/lift

did you threadlock the driveshaft nut? my LSD when it was 2-way high preload, used to loudly clunk clunk clunk during right turns and the shock through the shaft acts like an impact gun, loosening the driveshaft nut till the wheel bearings ruined n made whining noise = so replaced bearing and threadlocked the nut.

jack up the front right wheel and turn it both ways (the LSD has more locking effect on the RH due it its 1-sided clutch pack setup).

if urs is 2-ways you should feel abit of resistance both ways as the LSD planet driver ramps against the clutch pack and tries to resist the turning difference between both wheels.

if it feels very loose n open-diff, the preload ring could be shattered like my old ones.

and try twisting the driveshaft by hand while the wheels on the ground to check for worn outer CV joint

No issue with the LSD in the end mate and the CV is going to depart soon I reckon. Still its working I found another issue instead I think. I will fix and see what happens.

Oh two things now. Both my steering rod ends have wound them selves out... And as Polly said. Sorry for dismissing I didn't notice it so much until I jacked the car up.. Hub nut came loose.good job I replace split pins religiously on parts. Fun .. I slammed them up and over torqued to compensate for the harsh power of LSD + mapping

Would be impressed if you had a 30mm tap. You would get bonus points in fact

for a driveshaft, never needed it, I just wirebrushed the threads clean and the nut screwed on fine. I just run a thread cleaner/tap/die if the nut couldn't be screwed on by hand.
I only buy tools that are really needed, when I need em

yeah lol i do the same... i would of just been "oh you paulll" if you ran a thread cleaner/tap/die on he outer CV joint hub thread. only you would give that much to your micra. yeah i wirebrush and will thread lock the hub nnut this time. i actually over torqued the nuts to counter the extra power. cannot believe that the turbo is shaking everything apart!

Do you have solid engine mounts Chris or the factory ones?

Just thinking maybe solid mounts (though theres alot more cabin vibration) might help the extra snatch the diff/engine put on the hubs when you give it the load pedal?

Just me thinking out loud :)

I was thinking the same thing... The shafts no doubt get pushed and pulled as the engine rocks back and forward? Also just vibration I'm general. The solid mounts would take away from the hubs. But would still find its way back to the parts and losen parts regardless.? I just didn't used enough threadlock I suppose and the parts haven't settled since the rebuild. I reckon I could whack this stuff up again and it will be okay. I find my engine is hammering around the engine bay on gear change and heavy foot work. I think I have a dent on the slam panel and firewall. Solids will need to be thought of.
