Skinners Sprint Micra

Looking forward to this :) Make sure you get a nice snug fit on those oil control rings eh :D

Deffinately mate! Il be using Frank & Pollyp's experience for sure :)

Think ll invest in a gage to measure the drag when the new rings go on!

Will need to re dial the cams too as the block had a 10thou skim

Hey skinner I'm here to pick your brains again if you dont mind.
Ive been flicking through the bible and couldn't find my answer. As you might know my car is fairly well plastered in stickers... are they allowed on production series cars? It doesn't say they're prohibited  but do you know from experience?

If in doubt remove them :)

Some are fairly sentimental so i'd prefer not to... but the regs dont mention about the prohibition of decals and advertising. Normally do like in the road rally regs

I've not been looking at road rally :) and I've not had a chance to have a proper read of the hill climb section :(
Its al complicated. Read it through and through but most of the time getting someones personal experience, like skinners, gives you definitive and easier answers :)

They are fine mate, I've never had any problems or the guys in my road class... The SR's normally say all sponsors decals must be shown :)
Pheww.. that leaves me safe at least. Some are coming off but I haven't got to panic.
Turns out its july 21st my first event. Got a gymkhana event August 11th

Stupid question..... What's SR's?
Specific regulations.
In this case rules specific to hillclimbs/sprints :)

Ours have always been specific regulations... guess every motor clibs different  me and 2 are the only sub-aged 55 like the rest though :p

Yeh must have the same sort of info just a different name :)

"me and 2 are the only sub-aged 55 like the rest though" what you saying their mate sorry?

All our motor club are aged over 55 bar a couple of us and most very set in their ways :) still a lovely bunch

Ahh im with you now mate, being 25 i think im one of the youngest in it lol

Much the same here alot of classic stuff running against modern machinery :) good to get a few tips from though as most have "been there, broke that "

Been there broke that is a well used phrase here :p though my driveshaft issue was something they'd never seen before so I feel special.
Any events in 2014 you know of over there? I know some events get organised early. Planning my trip to the isle :)

The one i do each year is the Manx Classic mate. (only one big event really for hillclimbs really... loads of rallying though)

24 - 26 April 2014 & the regs are normally out at the end of September :) http://www.manxmotorracing.com/

They arrange discounted travel & hotels for those from across & you'd be welcome to any tools / help i can offer you save dragging them over!

Then that's what I'll do :D I'll get it looked into and car prepped when the regs come out :)
I dont mind a discount ;) well who doesn't as I'm literally the opposite side of the UK :p far east coast.
That's brilliant thanks for the offer I'll probably take you up on that one.
Do you know what licence is minimum?
Lots of rallys... oo :p I may have to come do a few. I'll let you take the car out and have a go at rallying. Saves building a car ;)

Your very welcome mate.

Minimum license is a non-race national B fella :)

now that i would be sure to take you up on mate! carnt beat a bit of Manx rallying, would be nice to be in a car and not marshaling for a change!

Ah goodo I've got that covered :)

Yea I bet. Marshalling is good to get put and see it but nothing beats having a go. It'll be a nice change to have a play elsewhere for me :) even co-driving a rally car is good fun

that cage wont help paul, nor the 5.1:1 diff

Hoping the move to the 15" wheels will help a little Frank but it's not what it's built for as you say, good fun though :) won't be knocking on the door off any boosted micra times!

Half tempted to try a few different gearboxes now its got a bit more power under the bonnet

I dont suppose you know what colour brake pipes have to be labelled? I'm sure it's red... but I can't remember and dragging the blue book out just isnt happening :p

Sorry bud I'm not sure, though my old hydraulic handbrakes braided lines came with red covers on them! So that woulda make sense

Today's drag racing went well :) best time of 15.816 chuffed to get into the 15's and upset a VTEC civic owner

Alot of problems trying to get traction on the old airfield but practice makes perfect eh!
