i just found this thread was about to beg u to sell the ssr wheels but then seen u've sold it :( wat was the spec on them anyway?
 
What was the legality on these in the end mate? if i was to get some would i have risk of been pulled over etc? heard cars without HID reflectors can get done or something

To use HIDs legally you need projectors, not reflectors. You also need automatic self levelling and self cleaning headlights. The beam also has to be configured correctly.
 
So some of you may or may not know, but I've ended up with the G#. When I got it it seemed like it'd been through hell and back the last few months.

Problems:
Missfire
Hesitation
Difficult cold start
Running lean on one cylinder
Rubbing arches
Ac compressor grinding
Dented bumper
Dented wing
Lights not working
Randomly goes into limp mode
Exhaust too loud (might be a hole)
Randomly cuts out
Cut springs
Was an absolute TIP inside (literally mouldy food everywhere)
List goes on....

So far I've changed the TB, HT leads, dizzy cap, fuel rail, springs, wheels and car seems much happier. Gave it a wash too :)

Certainly will do. There are 32mm spacers at the rear and nothing at front atm.
I'm not sure how much spacing it needs. Probably 20mm I think. It's definitely siting in too much.
with the 32mm spacers, did you have to remove old wheel studs and replace with longer ones ?

If they where the same as the ones when i got the car, there not longer studs but extensions that go onto the existing stud, you can see on my forsale thread what they were like (if that was the same)

would you sell the extended stud nuts, and spacers together ? or if not, could you send me a link of some extending nuts ?
 
That's a surprise to see given that the car was apparently 'rust free' back in March 2012. Thankfully an easy patch job...

To 99% of people, the condition of the March when you picked it up was scrap :rolleyes:
 
Done a few bits this morning,

Destroyed engine mount changed

Was experiencing judder on biting point and thought this might be the reason. Changed it over with a good one and seems worse/same. Clutch does engage well but could it be damaged/Burnt out?

Also found this coming out the driver seat belt

Went to breakers today and found a nice facelift with black interior. Changed the a pillars so far

It jerks like mad but full throttle is okay but lacks power. Grr
 
Just an update

Bought another throttle body and distributor. Changed that plus fuel filter, plugs, air filter, ac compressor, and sorted out some wiring and now the car is running smooth. No missfire, no limp mode, no hesitation, no loud grinding noises. All is well (touch wood). I did notice this on the wiring for the injectors, someone's been here before?

This was under the black tape holding the wires together... Odd

On another note now that the cars working and back to standard with the damage somewhat repaired, I have no money left lol. So it's either going to sit there or I'll have to sell it to a good home. Not looking for profit just to make my money back. So just testing the water first nothing confirmed yet.
 
maybe it was a good idea not buying this... shame. but glad it's in good hands. the wheels were indeed sold for a quick buck iirc 450 odd but hey it's not our place to moan, was his right to do so as it was his car :)

progress is good so far. seat belt warning light is cool. On my "L" spec I had two different types of handbrake on lights there... people thought I had a warning light on or summing.

look at that it also has a light around the ignition barrel. I had one of those that was off an infiniti G20 but didn't think it would fit.

what does the button do to the left of the barrel dude? would love some general shots of the interior kit :)

They're 15"? thought they was 13"? but your the second person to get the same tyre make. I just really like the way that make leaves a lip behind when stretched (best way I know how to describe it)

Yeah, the wheels are 15x7.5 League Retro Stars. Nankangs tend to have softer sidewalls so they usually stretch quite easily

Oh right cheers. So would you recommend them for the stretched look and would you say they safe? I've got stretched tyres already but want new ones at some point.
 
I'm not a fan of overly stretched tyres tbh but if you need them to get wheels to sit right/fit under the arches then yeah I'd go for them ones. Providing you don't stretch them too much, yeah they'd be safe. Personally I wouldn't fit them on anything more than a 7.5J though

The only reason I'm doing it, is for the tread to sit right with the arch or the cops might have something to say about it. Already got the arches pulled out and rolled. I've got a 7j with 165 on them, but I wouldn't go less than that. I'd be fine if the offset was so big (et-7)
