ok, ok, ill tell you
the RS1700T was designed as a challenger to the mighty lancia 037 group B rally monster.
the rs1700T was a bespoke chassis with a 1.7l 4 cylinder turbo engine mounted behind the driver (mid mounted) and Rear wheel drive.
In 1980, following the launch of the MKIII Escort, Ford plans were started to produce a rear wheel drive Escort to replace the MK II Works rally cars, the RS1700T, with a full programme expected in 1983. As all Ford rally enthusiasts will know, the development was hindered by all kinds of problems, and ultimately the project in the UK was cancelled
it was later used as the basis for the fire breathing, gravel eating, tarmac smoking, audi bashing, horizon headbutting RS200 rally nutcase of a car. Martin Sckanke drove (in its evo2 chassis guise, but with well over 1200BHP) in rally cross trim well into the 1990's and devoured everything in its path.
BEAST OF A CAR!!
