cheers rik,

tbh i think im gonna go with XO so at least i can drive the car, then drive down to london with some stuff as im moving there anyway and while im there i will get ed to check it all over.

i have been on JNE asking if they know anyone but have only come up with tuners that i have been in touch with already and unfortunately cannot help without a bit of cost.

Basically the closest i can get bar XO is motorscope and turbo pacs who will map it but will require the software and the lead! (£££) So they will be basically learning the software on my car...not overly keen on that one lol. also the guy at turbo pacs is a tool imo.

if you can get a number i wil try themno harm in trying. :)

but surely if they blow up the engine they have to repair it

just read this...o_O if it blows then it is very possibly for sale! :wow: i cant hack the wait anymore i have a very fun car here which i am dying to drive again and its just sat there :suspect: arrrgghhh.

i couldnt sell it really but i wouldnt be happy! There would be a few dented panels thats for sure.

o.k no problem

you have you get it done and running right for the 27th august..york raceway :D:D look in general chat

just looked at that! august i will have started my new job so unlikely im afraid. plus i wil be living in london so santa pod would be better for me

just found this.......another possible route for turbo pipes...

hmm not sure if that would work as its the other way around to davey's turbo set up. I have no idea if the bolts would line up like that, maybe the manifold is different.

how did the mapping go? Car running now?

mapping went well and the car is running but its not finished. the car is maxing out the std injectors and although i had the 1.6 ones in the boot ready we didnt have enough time to fit them before the shop shut up. im going back tommorrow to get it finished off.

the new back box is on and it sounds SO cool, a bit too loud still but nice all the same :)

will post an update tommorrow evening

a little up date for you guys, no progress but more bits, i have been so busy with new job ect but now i can reap the benifits :)

Intersting stuff dave, first thing you want to do though is sell/bin the FSE fuel pressure reg, since they can be very random with turbos (fine on NA)

Hey Dave, did you get my pm about the bumper? My internet is a bit dodgy, so I dont know if my pm's are getting through, Ollie didnt get his either

i did it myself, i dont reccommend it tho you may as well buy a set new...can you still buy them, id guess so.

But doing them yourself is a right ball ache! i ended up paying around £200 for the breat setup when all the parts were added into the cost.

ive allready payed more than that just on disk and pads...plus £50 for the calipers..

all i nead basicaly to get them up and running is the little clips that hold the pads in..... thats it..

when you said you replaced the sills ?

did you patch them ? or replace them ?

any details if you sourced replacements

thanks

hi there i recently aquired a set of front calipers from a gti-r. i was just wondering if anyone could help me with the refurb procedures.

here is the kit i have. there are 4 long seals with rubbber boots at the end, for the sliders ..... but two are shorter than the other 2 ???

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/djlee_dj/25022007.jpg

i was wondering how do i push/remove the piston to rub down slightly/clean up.

can you get the sliders seperate, any idea how much ? (on seized + snapped on removal).

thanks.

Well it’s been a while but things are starting to move again now. Project was put on hold as I got a job in London and decided to leave the car for a couple of months to concentrate on the job down here. So 6 months down the line and I got a pay rise, so I figured I was doing well and with the extra cash I can start up “project 150whp” again.

Ok, so first up I unpacked the alloys as they were in storage so I didn’t get flat spots on my tyres. Chucked them back on the car rolled it around a bit on the drive a bit then it was onto the back of a toe truck and dragged down the country to its current home, fusion motorsports HQ.

The plan is now to get the new-new engine into the car and get it up and running, my aim for this project is:

  • a fast road / dangerous track weapon
  • reliable
  • reliable
  • lots of torque, not chasing high power but I want lots of torque
  • fun to drive, this is gonna happen anyway
  • reliable
  • most importantly reliable
So the next month or so I will be furiously ordering parts and custom bits to enable me to have the final product that I want then when all the bits arrive it’s a case of putting it all together then testing.

So, once the engine is in and run-in! then its off to get the suspension re-setup, full new breaking system and then track day for fine tuning of the suspension and breaks. finally it will go in the bodyshop to get some needed TLC.

Update over, any questions just ask

Well I inspected the ECU maps today. Sadly they paint a poor picture of the whole thing, and it is in my professional opinion that its no surprise that this car failed again. I am not going to go into great depths but suffice to say the engine never had a chance.

and it is in my professional opinion that its no surprise that this car failed again. I am not going to go into great depths but suffice to say the engine never had a chance.

It would be educating to ALL...

... if you WOULD go into details as to whats happened and why...

Thus saving us from making similar/same mistakes.

The same mistakes would not be made by anyone here. No one here would attempt their own mapping and risk such damage without knowing what they are doing, and since you cant see whats going on when its being mapped by other tuning companies you just have to hope they do it right. I shall show what physical damage resulted due to this but there is no point showing the maps, they wont mean anything to anyone.

..Thanks

If I blow mine up ill be posting why..

If you could explain these things, they are both interesting and informative..

Im trying to refine my own set-up now and am looking at different aspects..

Ok, time for an update me thinks,

nothing is happening fast :( but things are happening, just waiting on some rod from fusion, the pistons have arrive, my oil cooler should be here in the next week or so, then im getting a custom pace rad, James T is ordering two and one is mine :)

Once the rods arrive its off to get rebuild then its just a case of putting it back together. so fingers crossed it shuldnt be too much longer.

Dave

omg !! i soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo want your car..

ive got a long trip to get mine looking like that , thats for sure !!!

Ok so it’s been an interesting weekend for me, the project is officially over, for ever!

New month signals new times for me without owning a Micra, I have owned a Micra since I learnt to drive when I was 17 and now I no longer have one. It’s a weird feeling.

The project is over but was not a complete failure, the things I have learnt from tuning this and my first Micra have been unreal, I would say that even though this car hasn’t been finished, the project as a whole has been a huge success. Giving me a much greater understanding of engines and tuning than I ever thought I would have.

So now down to business, i have 2 van loads of super tasty micra goodies for all you lot. let me know if you are interested in any parts.

So some pics of its final moments…
