Seb black 1.3 Stars Cup

Hopefully you'll find a way around it but I'd save you the hassle if it doesn't fit, Seb ;)
If you ain't happy, I'd buy it ;)

Is that because the front screw is offset? Im sure itll be fine
Yes, indeed as for the dashboard center console, those parts are not 100% center symetric and the shape of those parts/screw holes on the chassis slightly changes between RH and LH (I also tested that on the 1.0L) So I hope the arm rest is not the same case and the space between the 2 front seats is symetric :)

So if it doesn't fit and requires too much modding, rather chopping/destroying a rare OEM part, it'll end up here, and I'll throw the gearstick surround+center console for free :) Penyo you're first dibs on it ;)

Started it and had a very good highway run :D After two month driving a 100HP Turbo diesel, so much more nippy and funny :D

looks like a nissan advertisment :)

Done some test with my new keychain cam this weekend:

Pretty pleased with the result and willing to book a new track day :)

That what I'm thinking when I see videos of left driving side "oh no he's on the wrong way he's gonna hit somebody!!!!!" :D

Quick update:

I wanted to care a bit about the cars paint for a long time:
http://www.micra.org.uk/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-micra-today.43944/page-70#post-535020

and Sulur' topic def convinced me to do it:
http://www.micra.org.uk/threads/paint-rejuvenation-pic-heavy.52379/

So after reading tons of forums and reviews about products I finally bought all the necessary stuff:

-A quite hard (but not too much) biodegradable shampoo:
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/chemical-guys-citrus-wash-and-gloss.php?cPath=57&products_id=459&
to deeply clean the car, that I will apply with some snow foam and will let on the car for 10minutes
-Rince with the Karsher

-Wash again with a microfiber glove and some warm water using the 2 buckets technic

-Dry the car with this:
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/elite...bre-drying-towel-36-x24-.php?cPath=21_60_62&=

Park the car in the garage to stay away from threes dust

-Polish the car with Meguiars M205 polish: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/meguiars-m205-ultra-finishing-polish-237ml-8oz.php (one of the softer abrasive finishing polish because Nissan paint/clear coat is very soft and I dont have any major scratch) with that soft light cuting pad : http://www.shinearama.co.uk/product.php?id=LAK-78-646X4WH

-Buff it with those towels: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/eurow...pack-of-3.php?cPath=21_60_61&products_id=433&

-Oil and feed the paint from the removed clearcoat with some SPR filler I already have at home:
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=100889

-Buff it with the buffing towels

-Apply a cheap waw t Ibought from Lidl:
http://eviewer.netmedia-europe.be/cache/server?type=image&source=promobutler_be/lidl/active//lidl228f0000073.jpg&width=275
with those applicators:
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/terry-applicator-pads-twin-pack.php?cPath=21_60_63

That I will buff with the last buffing towel from the pack.

I plan to do everything in one day, starting early in the morning and proceding panels by panels after the global washing/drying process done.

Ok so yesterday I've done it. I started at 9am, and it was over at 4pm, with 1h break for lunch.

My partners in crime I was talking about in my previous reply:
1%2520partners.jpg

First I soaked the car with a mix of shampoo, foam and warm water and let everything flows for a few minutes:
2%2520foam%2520s.jpg

Rinced it and washed it thorougly with a microfiber glove:
3%2520hand.jpg

Rinced, it's now clean:
4%2520rinced.jpg

What I don't want to see anymore, scratched wings and bonnet:
6%2520rem.jpg

Final result:

Right side of the bonnet polished with Meguiars M205:
7%2520205.jpg

Everything polished, glazed and waxed:
8%2520corr.jpg

9%2520ok%25202.jpg

Very satisfied with the result; it was worth it, but it would be a LOT faster and easier -ouch my arms!- with a polishing machine ! The car is ready for the winter :)

Well well well.

Little update, a friend of mine went back from Japan and bring me back a Nismo open mouth front grill in the cargo compartment, so we didnt paid shipping. I also received an adjutable panhard bar from Noddie, amazing welding work, seems nice
and sturdy!
IMG_20130128_141004.jpg

I will paint it in silver as I've spotted some discounted anti rust cans at LIDL this week.
http://www.lidl.fr/cps/rde/xchg//li...rict=&street=1+rue+des+Perriers&ar=19&nf=True
Good timing.

Also managed to buy a set of stock SuperS alloys, the same I had on my 1.0 . I've always regretted to left them on the car when I sold it.
888214116626817.jpg

Tyres on them are worn so I'm currently looking for some good budget 175 60 13 tyres. By reading reviews on internet I might give a try with the Falken z912.

I've also decided to come to PPC 2013 and take part of the track day :p

Thanks for the tips Penyo, I've read a few review on this website via google searches :)

Few updates:

-Bought a set of 4 Kayaba EXCEL G shocks for a good price (180eur delivered) :
IMG_20130214_174946.jpg

-Did a quick check of the spark plugs every seemed fine at first sight:
IMG_20130209_112513.jpg

-But then I noticed on spark number 1 there was a tiny bit of engine oil stagnating just above where the spark thread is seating, nothing on the spark thread or electrode:
IMG_20130209_111939.jpg

No oil in the sparkhole tho, it looks clean:
IMG_20130209_112003.jpg

Maybe I went a bit too hard on the rev and a bit of oil went through the joint on the top of the sparkhole... Will check it later for safety.

-Gear are sometimes hard to shift, I've reached the 60 000KM so it may be time to do a gearbox oil change. I will buy Motul Motyl gear 75w90 (10eur/l)

I've done a bit of test with the track recording setup that I plan tp use at PPC:
-Sony action cam HDRAS10 (120eur delivered) that will be fixed on a spare roof light cover with mini ball camera mount:
At first I wanted to fit the camera on the passenger headrest like this :
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e3...43656-my-6-diy-headrest-car-camera-mount.html
but after some test the light Micra seats are vibrating way too much, the depht of view is too low and off centered, plus it doesn't look very safe.

-Audio-Technica ATR 3350 external mic that I bought for the excellent sound it records:

Price was fairly good : 25$ delivered, and the 6m lenght cord is useful. At first I was thinking about placing it either in the engine bay (but it's too noisy) or just above the the exhaust back box (but not practical to fit and bit exposed to wind noise). I still have to decide where I will put it.

- Qstarz BT-Q818XT external 10hz GPS (60euros delivered) 10hz means that datas are checked 10 times a second, very accurate. It will log lap time, track position, speed and Gforce with the app RaceChrono. Then the data will be exported so I can edit a video like this one:

Lot of money already spent, and I still have to buy and fit a new set of tyres, and book the ferry + hostel on next pay day.

Two people has been very kind to send me their spare interior light covers, JK from here and Joel from Micra.au.com.
So I've seeked on Ebay and ordered the bits to build my custom interior light camera mount, it will look like that:

track%2520setup.jpg

I will drill in the center of the interior light cover, fit and glue with epoxy resin from the inside the 1/4" screw base plate, then I will screw it on the mini ball head mount, the other part (male 1/4" screw) will be fitted in the orange extension (female side) and connected on the other side with the black screw which I'm going to stick with epoxy on top of my Sony camera case.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250907734250
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271040888434

Total cost is less than 10euros delivered.

It looks awesome Will, the view is centered and you can see gear shifting, that's why it's better than headreast mount imho. I remember when you posted it on facebook, so maybe I stole the interior light mount idea from you :p

I also tested with some sticky 3M dual lock on top of my camera case but it had to be lowered and advanced toward the windscreen or it would record too much of the roof area whereas the windscreen part was too small and you could barely see the road, hence the custom adjustable mount I plan to do.

Few updates:

-Ferry tickets for PPC are booked (DFDS Seaways). 60eur for 2 adults, quite cheap.

-Spotted some interesting Micras /R-REG mode ON:
a golden Stars Cup while I was doing my food shopping:
2013-03-10_09-46-11_453.jpg

and then a Mystique edition with the special paint:
2013-03-10_10-28-14_757.jpg

-Also I decided to work on Noddie panhard rod that a bought few months ago. This is what I used:
2013-03-19_11-50-46_244.jpg

light sand paper, acetone to then clean and degrease, primer, black anti rust paint in can from ALDI

Primed:
2013-03-19_14-45-03_867.jpg

Finished product:
2013-03-21_11-38-12_861.jpg

-I also built custom wood ramps with my father, They are quite long (1.30M) and therefore work with lowered cars (and cars with useless and boring front splitters):
2013-03-21_14-12-01_199.jpg

They jack up the car by 25CM and are rather heavy, some extra handles would be convenient ! I'm also planning to add some stoppers at the end in order to block the wheels.

I also built my custom roof light camera mount. I've added rubber slices between each item to damper the vibrations and I'm satisfied with the result. I'm just waiting for some mini ball heads mounts so I can adjust and orientate the camera more easily.
2013-03-21.jpg

In car while drving it looks like this:
vlcsnap-2013-03-21-18hEEE21m38s66.PNG

That's all for the moment !

Nice update so far. :)

Btw I think everyone didn't recognise on this interior mirror so I laughed. :D
Ahah good one mate, I was wondering if someone would spot this :D Btw it's the roof light cover you sent me I did good use of it :D And Climber Joel from Australia sent me 2 spare :D

Noddie adjustable panhard rod fitted with the help of my cousin.
Done it at home with cheapo keys + cheap chinese hydraulic jack+ cheap LIDL axel stands + pieces of wood (because my car was too low to fit the stands) + LOTS of brutal force !
2013-03-25_12-54-39_830.jpg

The operation is quite basic and doesn't require any mechanical knowledge but requires muscles!
The ardest part was to remove the big screw on the chassis (left upper side of the bar) and remove the stuck nuts!
Noddies wonder fitted:
2013-03-25_13-07-16_87.jpg

After that I went to have my Kayaba ExcelG fitted + wheels realignement:
2013-03-26_10-29-03_195.jpg

2013-03-26_16-12-22_416.jpg

While I was waiting I have spotted those Recaro bucket seats:
2013-03-26_09-28-33_259.jpg

Recaro%20Ergomed%20ES%20fabric%20copy.jpg

Size is quite compact and the grey is exactly the same as the Super S interior... plus it's an exhibition model so price is dropped... hmmm...

The handling feels lot better, less harsh (stocks shocks were worn out) but firmer, quite tricky to explain but it feels great and put a big smile on my face! :D

Reaching 60000KM I've serviced the gearbox today (it was never done before). I also tested my home built wooden ramps for the first time. Car is jacked up quite high, its much more comfy to work with room above my head!
2013-03-28

Drain plug was pretty easy to remove, but filler plug was stuck as fu*k!!! I had to cut a metal tube randomly found in the garage and insert the key inside in order to use it as a lever for more grip:

2013-03-28

2013-03-28

Magnetic drain plug was full of crunched gearbox metal bits, I gave it a good clean and refitted it without over thightning it:
2013-03-28

I was so focused on the plugs removal that I forgot that I would need a long flexible tube to refill the gearbox because the filler plug is rather hard to reach, so made in emergency a filler with what I could find: a tiny funnel; an old tube and a spout taken off a windscreen washer fluid bottle:

I used about 3 liters of Castrol Synstrans 75W90 GL4 which was only 6euros/liter at my local supermarket Carrefour (tag price mistake?)
http://cgi.ebay.fr/11-40-l-Castrol-Syntrans-Multivehicle-75W-90-2-x-1-L-ex-SMX-S-/310603072762

Went for a test drive and noticed that gears shifting (especially during first minutes) were way more smooth than before, another good thing done :)

Je suis juste jaloux quand je vois l'état de ta carrosserie, et du fait que t'es une star cup et.... !!!

( I'm just jealous when I see the state of your body, and because you have a real star cup...)

( I'm just jealous when I see the state of your body, and because you have a real star cup...)

I hope you mean the cars body :/ :p

Car is looks sweet Seb, loving the armrest. Did it fit snug between the seats? JDM seats are slightly wider apart.

Well, for a few days I've spotted a sligth whisling/blaping when I accelerate, so today I put the car on ramps and checked the exhaust system.
There's a gap between the custom downpipe and the second cat:
2013-04-14_14-51-42_915.jpg

The nuts were dead stuck and this time I've been defeated :( even with WD40; hammer and heat.

so I scrapped it the best I could with a metal brush to remove all the grit/rust/gasket pieces; sanded and cleaned the area with acetone, and then put some Loctite gasket maker Stani sent me few years ago:
http://www.lsengineers.co.uk/loctite-r-5910-quick-gasket-200ml-2827.html
2013-04-14_18-10-40_620.jpg

I filled the gap with it, and then had a good run to heat the gasket.

It looks a bit like a bodged work, I'm not satisfied and I'm not sure it will stay for a long time. I'm thinking about grinding the nuts and replace them with new ones (and some grease) so I can properly remake a whole new gasket with the sealant.

Few updates:
-Bought a polishing machine (Amazon FR sent me a UK electrical wallplug...after calling them they did refund me the price of the wall plug adapter I had to buy.
-After a few long road trips it looks like the quick gasket fix is still holding. I hope it will last until PPC, but really not sure.
-MOT booked for saturday. I will have to negociate with the MOT guy about emissions.
-I cant afford new set of tyres, but Dav kindly offered me to bring and borrow his Yoko A539 set. Woohoo !
-I've been trying to convince Sam and MC Cheung to come to PPC with the G# and the SR20. Sadly lot of members had last minute problems and wont make it in the end. Hopefuly Frank will be able to attend the track session.

I've been off the site (and internet) for a while! Lot of good write up, and JAE seems to have been awesome !
I still love the Micra but I've only been driving numerous other cars for months: Renault 5, Aygo, new Twingo, 205, but none of those cars are as fun to drive as the Micra. I really miss it.
This weekend I'm planning to change the backbox with this:
wQnGM93.jpg

Also I will remove the second cat and replace it with a decat pipe I bought from someone here years ago. I hope it wont be too loud :)
