If that's what you think, maybe it's a good thing you didn't vote.
These elections were for the people who decide on European issues and how we fit in, these people lay down the basic rules and regulations that everyone has to follow. Its because of Europe that we have the working time directive that protects people from being worked too hard, it's these people who brought funding to some of the worst hit parts of the UK. If it hadn't got European funding, vast parts of northern England would be empty mining villages, instead European money attracted new service industries, re-built communities and dragged some areas out of a downward spiral.
Whether you agree with the EU or not you should still voice your opinion by voting.
you realy think that some bloke voted into a european parliment from the likes of UKIP helps to decide european policy? come on.
European parlimentary policy is decided by un-elected officials in a commitee and the scrutinised by the 'voted' section. the only thing the elected bit can do is to disagree with the policy. they have no power at all. and to think that a 36 year old bloke from birmingham that doesnt like europe that much could change policy is laughable.
the problem is that Politics is supposed to be the tool of democracy. democracy is supposed to be a tool of the people with a clear choice of different parties so that everyones voice can be heard....... the problem now is that labour is more and more like a thatcher government is scary, the torries are even worse and the lib dems will never get into power due to the lack of proporsional representation. so whomever you vote for you get the same policies and the same old same old BOOM AND BUST capitolism.
thats not democracy. thats giving people a choice of "do you want labour to screw you over or the conservatives to screw you over?"
the government and its corrupted 'Honerable' MP's fwn, are finished. this country has been laughed at for the last 10 years and the parties in power are so up their own ar$e they cant see it and dont particularly care..
the reason though i dont agree with european parlimentary elections is that there is a cast iron guarantee that if elected you WILL BECOME A MILLIONARE. no elected official should ever be guaranteed to become a millionare but the system in europe is so corrupt that its easy to become a millionare. look at tony blair. he was on £160,000 a year yet just 8 months after he left parliment he bought a £5million mansion....... im sorry but the figures just dont add up. The inmates are running the asylum and i have had enough.
the only way to make a difference is to vote for somebody different.... UKIP or same old same old....
MartBoy you missunderstand the bnp's position. It's not just illegal immigrants they want to send back, it's anyone they can identify as being from a family that immigrated. They want to send people back to the countries where there grandfathers or grandfathers grandfathers come from. So there'd be no asian doctors, there'd be no black sports stars no different people, a horrible horrible idea. Yes limit the number of people coming in who take jobs from local workers, but the vast majority of people coming in take jobs that british people don't want to go near with a barge pole.
the reason for this is because they wont pay enough for british workers. strawberry pickers from eastern europe actualy refused to work in lincolnshire fields because they werent getting paid enough....
when farmers offer a fair wage british workers will work for it. but not for £5 an hour (minus rent for buckets and shovels and everything else)
