Anyone Voting today....do you really care?

As it's well known, people of this country don't vote, it's left to the majority of oldies but maybe there'll be a massive brain-fart by the whole electorate who all vote for same shower with a different name..yay!

So if you're old enough to vote then get off yer backsides and do it!

If not go back to bed....

I requested a form to do it by post, which arrived, however I forgot to send it off :S

Done it this morning, work let me have AN HOUR off to vote - It took me ten minutes, and the rest was spent shovelling a Full English into my grid.

The fact you don't care scares me. It's only through working on peoples insecurities that the BNP have got anywhere, playing on the people who are scared enough to vote and relying on more apathetic/reasonable people to sit at home and complain that it does nothing.

I will be voting once I get home from work.

Im gonna vote as its just around the corner, but also i think for once ive got an idea of who should get my vote...granted it took me a few hours reading all the different sites / info they put out (though i had to find it myself, as they've all made little to no effort to persuade me directly), and if i hadnt have searched id have been none the wiser.

I would vote if I was 18, but I still feel after reading what all the party's have to offer, that none of them seem worth voting for.

We're having our local council elections down here today as well, so if I could vote in those, I'd vote for an independent councillor.

Just seems the main 3 parties are in the same boat at the end of the day, and the smaller parties are just a waste of time. The green party will send us back the stone age, UKIP is just a watered down BNP, the BNP shouldn't be allowed, and then the rest of them only have about 1 policy, which is about one thing only.

i didnt bother, they are all the same. they all love hugging trees and hate cars

If that's what you think, maybe it's a good thing you didn't vote.

These elections were for the people who decide on European issues and how we fit in, these people lay down the basic rules and regulations that everyone has to follow. Its because of Europe that we have the working time directive that protects people from being worked too hard, it's these people who brought funding to some of the worst hit parts of the UK. If it hadn't got European funding, vast parts of northern England would be empty mining villages, instead European money attracted new service industries, re-built communities and dragged some areas out of a downward spiral.

Whether you agree with the EU or not you should still voice your opinion by voting.

totally agree.

i had my voting slip come through but i didn't bother because i am leaving the country lol so it makes no odds to me.

but to be perfectly honest i don't care anyway because i think there is so much corruption that it wont make a difference.

i voted, first time however but as im getting older now it all becomes more clearer, and earlier post captured it perfectly

we all moan about change and this isnt right and thats unfair but half the country cant be arsed to voice there opinions and so nothing changes for the good.

i voted BNP

however controversial they are i stand by there views

send back the illegal immigrants, house the british first, british jobs for british people!

has anyone every wondered why there are so many immigrants??

its easy for them here, #### sake our taxes house them, feed them and give them the ability to reproduce and stay permantely, feeding of our hard earned cash, and leaving me short in my wages to keep them here when the rightfully should be living in there own origin!!!

other countrys dont put up with it but were like a bloody open flood gates, welcoming anyone to crush this country even more than it has!!

bnp ftw!!

you make some good points, and i do agree that imigration should be controlled and that houses should go to people already here, but there are so many racists in the BNP that it makes me sick, so many of them calling for an all white britan... thats Nazi crap...

I voted, but I voted for the one guy who bothered to send a letter to me, granted its just a spam letter, but hes the only one who bothered.

I did like the Euro vote thing though, 'The Pensioners Party' - For All Ages :p

I don't vote due to my lack of interest in the Politician department. I suppose I "should" care, but I just don't think my vote is justified because I really just don't care who is elected. I feel my vote is too trivial based on the amount of people who do vote.

Foreigners do the jobs lazy brits can't be arsed to do. So many people would prefer to sit at home and sponge off the state than clean hospitals etc etc. Put me in power and i'd sort this country out ;)

MartBoy you missunderstand the bnp's position. It's not just illegal immigrants they want to send back, it's anyone they can identify as being from a family that immigrated. They want to send people back to the countries where there grandfathers or grandfathers grandfathers come from. So there'd be no asian doctors, there'd be no black sports stars no different people, a horrible horrible idea. Yes limit the number of people coming in who take jobs from local workers, but the vast majority of people coming in take jobs that british people don't want to go near with a barge pole.

What I'd like to know is where would they draw the line? my Gran's family are Estonian jews, would I be repatriated? hmm.

The bnp is a thin veil for a bunch of racist thugs. My local bnp candidate openly attends national front events and has been photographed at neo-nazi events.

you realy think that some bloke voted into a european parliment from the likes of UKIP helps to decide european policy? come on.

European parlimentary policy is decided by un-elected officials in a commitee and the scrutinised by the 'voted' section. the only thing the elected bit can do is to disagree with the policy. they have no power at all. and to think that a 36 year old bloke from birmingham that doesnt like europe that much could change policy is laughable.

the problem is that Politics is supposed to be the tool of democracy. democracy is supposed to be a tool of the people with a clear choice of different parties so that everyones voice can be heard....... the problem now is that labour is more and more like a thatcher government is scary, the torries are even worse and the lib dems will never get into power due to the lack of proporsional representation. so whomever you vote for you get the same policies and the same old same old BOOM AND BUST capitolism.
thats not democracy. thats giving people a choice of "do you want labour to screw you over or the conservatives to screw you over?"

the government and its corrupted 'Honerable' MP's fwn, are finished. this country has been laughed at for the last 10 years and the parties in power are so up their own ar$e they cant see it and dont particularly care..

the reason though i dont agree with european parlimentary elections is that there is a cast iron guarantee that if elected you WILL BECOME A MILLIONARE. no elected official should ever be guaranteed to become a millionare but the system in europe is so corrupt that its easy to become a millionare. look at tony blair. he was on £160,000 a year yet just 8 months after he left parliment he bought a £5million mansion....... im sorry but the figures just dont add up. The inmates are running the asylum and i have had enough.

the only way to make a difference is to vote for somebody different.... UKIP or same old same old....

the reason for this is because they wont pay enough for british workers. strawberry pickers from eastern europe actualy refused to work in lincolnshire fields because they werent getting paid enough....
when farmers offer a fair wage british workers will work for it. but not for £5 an hour (minus rent for buckets and shovels and everything else)

I think voting is a waste of time too, and I for one won't be doing it.

At the end of the day, all we will get in parliament is money-hungry, corrupt MPs, who care not about the country but only how much they can swindle from the public purse - which, interestingly enough, is classed as money-laundering - any financial transaction which generates an asset or a value as the result of an illegal act. Theft is what it is, from the public money.

Any Average Joe would get hung drawn and quartered for that, but no, not the justice-immune MPs who do nothing for us but get this country into a bigger and bigger mess.

And that, among other reasons is why I do not, and will never vote in the elections - it doesn't change anything.

The labour party got trounced last night, shame they weren't all sacked as well. Good point about the money laundering, who wants to take the first of those MPs to court?

If they don't go to court then release all the prisoners who've done exactly the same thing!

I think decisions should be taken and quick smart!

they all p1ss in the same pot. i think a lot of politics is corrupt, and that a lot of people are in it for the wrong reasons. i voted, so that at least i have done my bit. regardless of if it makes a difference.

That's the thing. The justice system is so corrupt, if someone was actually brave enough to speak up about this and ask it of Parliament to take the effectively-money-launderers to court, then the person who spoke up would probably get arrested for protesting and demanding change, then thrown in the slammers for disturbing the peace or whatever.
There really is no point fighting the system unfortunately.

Ant, my dad described our politics system to me perfectly the other night:

Self elected dictatorship.

Amen to that. I suppose at least they haven't become Saddam Hussein, or Mussolini or something similar *touch wood* by gunning down people who don't want to follow them - lets hope they don't.

I was rather disappointed in the low turnout at my local polling station.

I don't see why people should struggle to put a cross in a box.

Then again, I do live in Newcastle.

To be perfectly honest i really cant be bothered with it lol, nearly got ran over by a car with a loudspeaker shouting vote for liberal democrats
