2nd gear doesnt engage !

hi everyone
last week my gearbox gave up on me and had to replace it with one from a scrap yard and when i completed everything i took it for a quick test drive and found that gear 2 will not engage no matter what i do all it does is slip back into neutral and if i force it in place it makes a crunch noise also gear 4 will only engage if i hold onto the gear stick until i release the clutch

any ideas ??

aarghhhhhh man !!:doh::doh: that's annoying took me ages to replace that do you know what's broke about it ?.

where does the clutch bite rob ? (pedal height)

it does sound like a broken gearbox, you could try new oil in it, you could also check the gear linkage is ok. but really it sounds like there is something wrong with the selectors,

i cant remember off the top of my head what causes it, but there is a problem that causes the gearstick to jump back to neutral especially in second and i think it is to do with the alignment of the selectors in the gearbox. but it still means taking the box off and opening it up.

where does the clutch bite rob ? (pedal height)

the biting point is around three quarters of the way up (nt sure if that makes sense lol )

and i checked the gear linkage and everything seems fine guess its another broken gear box
