what did you do to your micra today ?

Been autotesting, finished 8th overall in the whole event and took 2nd in class :)

We believe that the inner cv joints jumped out of the differential when Chris was swapping the coilovers over and when changing from 1st to second, the jolt stripped off the splines of the shaft end and lost drive.

They hadn't moved much but just enough to cause a problem.

I was supposed to be starting the micra today but struggling to re-attach the gas tank! Whats with these screws? There kinda rounded at the end and wont go further than few turns? Cant remember how it was at first and not sure if leaving the gas tank hanging on few threads is a good idea. Does anyone had a similar problem? Please help!

Where was the screw on the tank ? Under the fuel lines I don't think there is any screws so guessing it's a tank holder nut ?

I would redrill and tap a treaded hole again so tank holes in place, soon as u fill the tank up that one nut will come right off,

I guess it's the only option. I can't understand how it wont fit back in and is it possible that the nut was originally supposed to be like that (1/5 of the tread in place and not all the way). Maybe someone has a picture of their gas tank mounting nut position???

Maybe when u took tank off it came off in a angle catching ur nut and bending the inside of the thread

Victory! Thanks azzydot. Turns out it was plain old rust. Sharpened a tiny spring-metal-kinda thingy and scraped everything out. False alarm! :D

P.s. What worries me most is that the bolt for this nut is holding in pretty shady and not sure how long will it hold :s

Been island hopping over the weekend so first moment back took Steffi March Cab for a nice long drive with her top down lol! :D Then had to take Rouge 5 1.4SE+ for a spin (she gets very jealous of Steffi)! Then unpacked some K11 goodies that my good mate and fellow forum member davyboy posted me 2 mint 2nd FL rear light clusters and 2 mint 1st FL glass headlights davyboy is the undisputed king of the scrappies lol! :)

Andy :D

Davyboy what have you done with your bonnet vents? I really like the look of them but mine are currently how yours were before just sprayed black. I need yours in my life!!

Frank built the whole car,
I bought it and fitted the intercooler myself.

It's a cga3de rail with post 2000 sr20 injectors. Td04 turbo and intercooler from an audi tt. Nistune ecu, ghetto boost controller and lead foot.

Hello Frankie. Simple to do mate. Take the vents out, use a flat head screwdriver (Carefully) I broke mine doing it!!! but bought a spare pair last week in anticipation of that happening.
Cut the centre bar out, I used a dremmel. it's not pretty in close up, but ok for me. Spray to colour match with a rattle can.
Leave the top corner bits in, and drill a hole for fixing the wire, I used garden wire, the twisty type.
Got the wire mesh of e-bay (expensive) and tough to cut, its quality wire bud, fix and put back. Takes about 2 hours mate, mostly waiting for the paint to dry. And that's it.
Have a go, probably going to fix a functional air vent to the bonnet as well to complete the look. With lowering springs, and 10mm spacers to finish it.
All of course, when I find five minutes.

Does anyone else have problems with the backbox cracking around the weld from the pipe into the backbox?

Mine has gone AGAIN on the opposite side to last time, so led out in the rain and got the backbox off.

Wrong place to post but does anyone have a link for a thread on how to edit rails to fit celica seats im sure I've seen one before but I cant find it anywhere.

That's where most go, is there a supporting bracket to the pipe? If not add one, as the box is flexing causing quicker rusting. 5 mins with the welder and a bit of angle iron will do the job.

There wasn't a supporting bracket until the last time it broke.. Now there's a supporting bracket and the opposite side has snapped lol!
It's seen its day so got a new backbox on the way :)

@pollyp am thinking what is Diffrents now polly has forged and a 200mm clutch.
What clucth do u have at that power and stock internals ?

both cars may appear to be a turbocharged cg13de in a k11 shell but they're miles different from one another like chalk n cheese such as:

Application - my setup is configured to be both a comfy daily commuter and occasional full-day trackdays at big high speed circuits spending many prolonged laps at full attack till I run outa fuel. franks car I'm guessing was more suited towards a daily street car with occasional short bursts/launches and short blast around small circuits.

Reliability - the yrs of R&D & testing on trackdays, all the uprated components (forged pistons, balanced assembly, bigger clutch, big brakes, bigger fuel system, ecu remapped on dyno, purpose built fully adjustable coilover suspension, etc) & detailed assembly ensures that she can withstand being driven hard with my type of driving style around a high speed circuit all day for many prolonged laps with higher "mean time between failures".

Power delivery - my power band is tailored towards mid-high rpm suitable for high speed circuits. last time I drove franks car in 2013 his smaller turbo setup delivers much earlier at low-mid rpm, gr8 for brief blast around town/tiny kart circuits but ran out of steam towards the high end.

Braking - massive pulsar brakes & disc rears can provide extreme braking performance at high speed circuits over many laps without fading.

Handling - fully adjustable coilovers has been corner balanced & tuned on track to handle consistantly, predictaby & equally under left/right turns to my preferance yet can be softened via a dial for rough bumpy public roads
