what did you do to your micra today ?

3 years no claims nice postcode manager in corporate hospitality owning own home and living with my better half.

Wow nice man.

I got 3 years no claims now so the renewal price is £771 with social and business use only. I am from South London and student living at home. I never modify on any micras in past 4 years now. I am so desperate to modify my micra from standard into mini track style. I am thinking to move to modified insurance so is all mod declared will reduce your insurance right? My renewal price is not right something you know. I will put my insurance details in past 3 years.

2012-2013: First year insurance. Blue gx 1.0. It was £3000 per year with direct line.

2013-2014: Second year insurance. 1 ncb. Blue gx 1.0. It was £1150 per year with direct line again.

2014-2015: Third year insurance. 2 ncb. Blue gx 1.0. It was £600 per year with church hill. After 6 months, I bought sr so they asked me for £400 on the top to insure sr.

2015: fourth year insurance. It's not confirm yet. 3 ncb. Sr 1.3. Church hill renewal price is £771. This price is not right for me you know. I checked with other quotes so this is only cheapest price that I got.

In soon, I am going to get quotes from Sky, Tim prestige and flux Direct. Do you think my renewal insurance price will go down if I got all mod declared.

Cheers jk

Happy Day. I got a good insurance from 771 pounds to 663.56 pounds. Still, it is going to be standard micra in one year time. :( Is it going to be ok if i can get lowering springs with normal blistein shocks and also all poly bushes around without telling to my new insurance? cheers jk

In a word, no.

It's not worth the risk.

:( I am in london area so these insurance companies are killing me.
My micra handling is not good so my shocks are slightly worn out. when i bounce on both sides so i can hear funny noises from these shocks. I will need to get new shocks soon so it will be better to use this currently springs or to get new standard springs. i need to change from these old parts into new parts soon. there are so many things to do now. :(

New shocks won't need to be declared to the insurer as they're standard.

Lowering springs SHOULD be declared to the insurance company, but if the spring is black (not some fancy red, yellow colour) then the insurer will probably never realise.

I personally would declare all mods however.

yea, i saw yellow lowering springs so i am thinking to spray black on these yellow lowering springs. I am going to call my new insurance provider on this monday to see if i can declared lowering springs and all poly bushes around.

WDIDT?

Weeeeelllll....

I cut the pipe off a Renault Clio powerflow backbox, cut the same pipe off a stock Micra box and joined them together using the end of a DRZ downpipe as a reducer (all polished up) and some amateur but solid welding... then, I gave it a "test fit" to see where I need to stick the hangers...and welded a new hanger to one side (I'll get round to the other hangers tomorrow)...

temporary_14.jpg

temporary_15.jpg

The end of the DRZ downpipe which, conveniently, had the outer diameter to fit inside the powerflow hole and the inner diameter so the stock Micra pipe fitted snugly....bonus!

temporary_13.jpg

Test fit...need to cut out the bumper and it sticks out a bit (it's as far in as I could get it before the box would get crushed by the rear axle)....

Such gettow!

Was out for a proper drive there since getting them balanced and fitted earlier, bad steering wheel wobble at 50+, did the guy do a sh*t job balancing them or will an alignment be needed?

Gonna take them back tomorrow and get them redone

Did a bit of prep work on the RS5F31V gearbox for track car.

Took the turbo Micra to get the alignment done after doing the wishbones, was miles out. Dry weather meant I was able to get my foot in a few times on high boost.

Been so used to 295lb/ft of slow lazy diesel torque from the daily in a 1600kg car, was totally un prepared for how quick 225lb/ft of torque is in a car 1/2 the weight

Always good fun aren't they Dave

Took the new wheels down to be rebalanced after bad wobble, got rebalanced twice and they even tried a new set of tyres on after all 3 guys where stumped as to why i was still getting wobble, so conclusion was the wheels are no good, shame because they looked great. Some guy payed me 100 quid for the set though so he could use two on the back of his corsa rally car, so i actually made 20 quid haha and the tyre place didn't charge me either. So back to square one and it could have been a lot worse.

Pretty unlucky i guess but its put me off buying anymore second hand wheels, where do you guys get all your alloys?

manic weekend, done an all day job and didnt finish japfest prep until 12:15, picked up march bumper at 10, had it filled in and sprayed and on by 12 haha, took 2 hours to do the sunstrip because was so fiddly, k10 nipples on the back and smoothing took about an hour, suspension and exhaust were a half an hour job with guns!

had a good day at japfest, got alot of attention, good to meet up with the other owners again too, should of had more though!!

sunday went exploring and found a big airfield runway sorta thing next to wroughton airfield where they filmed the top gear episode when they make the gee wiz a remote control car, got some alright shots and a cheeky video of driving off and a handbrake turn haha

Oh yeah. Although, wheel alignment places STILL annoy the hell out of me.

I need to find a decent motorsport/race preparation company in Hampshire who WILL set the caster and camber and not just do what the computer 'tells them to' and ignore everything else.

I'll put a bit more time into it now that the dry roads will be more frequent. Next step is to complete the turbo air intake ;)

@skymera yeah, its 2.1kg. Only a baby 45amp however, I haven't got a lot to run.

Belt wise I will have a completely different belt to standard anyhow, electric water pump, this, PAS, and I'm about to look into different crank pulleys.

Best one I heard was, "I cant do a lowered car m8, you will have to raise it to stock then do the alignment"
