Okay guys and lasses.
Firstly, sorry for making a thread, that you may have seen a gazillion times before. Hope you´ll read it though.
Winter is finally loosening it´s grip here in Denmark, and it´s time to consider some summer-rubbers. I bought the Scoot in december, and it only had some ooold steelies, which I promptly got sorted with some winter tyres. As the Scoot is our family´s cheap no2 runaround, commute to job car, the budget regarding it, is unfortunately not very big. But I just bought a secondhand set of alloys, for the sum of 40£, delivered. :grinning:
The tyres on the alloys are for the scrapper, so need to get a new set of summer tires. The alloys are 15", and reading here on the forums, it seems that there is only one size to get, 195/45-15. That is also very close to the original rolling diameter, so I understand that. But 195/45´s are a bit more expensive than 195/50´s, so I´m gonna ask : Apart from the larger rolling diameter on 195/50, are there any reason that they would be a really bad choice ? I´m thinking rubbing etc.
I hope you will cast your vote in the poll, and that you furthermore will write a post, telling why you voted what you did. Votes are fun, and and indicator, but the explanations can actually make us wiser. Any firsthand experience with any of the tires, would be great. And If there is some tire, you think is the tire to get, please let me know. The key word in the tyre I want, is safety. My wife and daughter also rides in the Scoot, so it has to be surefooted. And a tire with good grip, could also let me have some solo -fun, from time to time. It has to be safe tire, good grip in sun and rain, never mind snow, ice and frost, got winter tires for that time of year.
Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, please cast a vote, and enlighten me with your thoughts. Thank you
Now, I have had a little look around the market, to get an idea of what to invest in, tyre wise. I´m not finished looking, but here is what I´m looking at so far :
Falken ZE912 195/45-15, 176,3£ set of 4
Toyo T1R 195/45-15, 194£ set of 4
Falken ZE912 195/50-15, 152£ set of 4
Toyo T1R 195/50-15, 137£ set of 4
Yokohama Parada Spec2, 164£ set of 4
