I really want to stop my door cards and boot rattling, but my local car audio specialist reckons it will use a £140 Box (40sqft I think) to do it properly. Should I go for it?
the perfect setup for audio is a set of component speakers up front and a sub behind you, i don't really spend more than £500 on a complete system and it sounds perfect,
you won't stop the rattling with tape, you need to work out what is rattling. two serfaces hitting each other makes noise, i single surface like a door skin won't make any real noise. the sound deadening is more for preventing outside noise interupting your music
Don't use flashing tape....you need 4 layers or more to make the same difference as one layer of decent deadening. I suggest Second Skin which is a decent alternative to Dynamat Extreme (expensive). Yes it can cost a lot, but you don't need to spend 'that' much. I've deadening my front doors, and a bit of my boot (but it still rattled at JAE!), rear arches plus boot floor, etc.
Second Skin Spectrum Sludge is good, but the more messy option...
