rocker cover

hi

can i please ask what material the rocker cover is made from.

BEFORE anyone put it in I KNOW ITS METAL

is it alloy or a ferrous metal as i want to chrome it and i dont believe you can chrome alloy?

I believe it to be made of Metal as it does Rust. Chrome plated would look cool!

does the spray chrome paint actually look anything like chrome or just metallic silver paint? lol, i just thought it would look a bit different from the ordinary red or black

The real chrom effect paint is like £80 a litre, the plasti-kote stuff comes off really easily

i use the propper chrome plating paint and it costs a bleeding fortune.

i primed / under coated stani's rocker cover with it.

Im sure its painted mild-steel (may be 0.75mm or something)......Ive got a one somwhere that is so rusted it looks like a T-BAG....LOL

Hey Antony, could you possibly give me a link to the sort of paint you need to for doing this? I'm looking at doing my spare one in a different colour as it looks pretty scratched up. Any tips you can offer in regards to going around the lettering etc would be appreciated too. Cheers.

i use a small knife for the lettering or best bet is to paint the letters first then when its dried coat the in vaseline. the paint then wont stick to the letters and you can just wipe it off after the main coat.

the paint i use comes from the states but if you search for "plate finish" on restoration sites, thats the stuff i use.
