Got a new project, not a micra, but I do enjoy this place so thought I'd share it.

Putting the engine from the old k10 into an old mini

Joint effort between me and my mate Dan, he has a garage lol

Car will be built on the odd weekend we get together and drink beer

Here's the car from how it started

No engine

No boot or floor

Remove subframe

Chop and stock bits on to mount a cg13

Repair rear subframe

This is how I'm mounting the charger:

Chop up an old inlet

Bit of big alu pipe

Then stick together

Boot finished

From subframe finished

Exhaust almost done

Ooo shiny

Beings as there's no space, I'm gunna need to run the water pump of the larger pulley on the crank

Will the pump be ok?

I can't use the water pump tensioner coz it hits the subframe, so I'm having a pulley Made that will be inline with the larger crank pulley and hold the wider belt.

The black pulley in the pic is roughly where the alternator will go and tension the belt (albeit tucked in the wing of the car and ran backwards)

Received my cover, cheers Tom!

This was the old one I broke, think I managed to get all the pieces out, hope so!!

Charger pulley aligned, and charger mounted into place, did try cutting the outlet hole in the manifold with a jigsaw, but snapped the blade lol

Just waiting on new water pump pulley to be finished

Is there any difference between the plastic cam cover rubber seal/gaskets, and the metal can cover rubber seal/gasket

The one I have doesn't look right for this metal cam cover,

Mines a dizzy model

As far as I know there two types, the coilpack and dizzy rocker cover gasket ... The coilpack one doesn't have the extension for the dizzy on the top right

Ahh ok,

Just doesn't look like it would've seat properly in the recess on the cover

Thought I'd ask before I bolt it all together


Anyway, small update,

Cover painted, alternator brackets finished and cutting hole in manifold for charger outlet......massive chore!!

The plastic cam cover gaskets go around the bolt holes from what i remember mate, the metal ones dont.

Cars on wheels for first time since we've owned the car, engine in and all fits nice, just need to figure out tie bar mount placement

The charger is where the brake servo used to be, so had to be moved to other side

Well, the 16v mini site has had a boo boo, and lost everyone build threads, good job I've kept one her otherwise I wouldn't have a record of anything!!

Anyway, clutch cable sorted, used a k10 cable coz it's got a nice bend in it which clears the charger nicely, had to weld on a plate to the bulkhead to stop it flexing......plus I drilled the first hole too big lol!!

I'm doing the gear stick next, it's a cg10 stick

Is there any sort of rubber bush I need to attach to the car

All I've got is the gear stick/selector/steady bar, I bought it of eBay so didn't get s chance to see how it's mounted

In the k11 theres a rubber Bush at the front ( near dash).
I'll try and get a picture next time I'm under the car

I used one of the small mini rubber cotton reel exhaust mount rubbers on the back of the gearshift arrangement with a bracket picking up 2 of the three bolt holes I found in the tunnel (probably from remote/rod change).

Inspired by all the cool minis at retro show at Santa pod, decided to pull my finger and get back on the car

Injection pumps and stuff sorted with return welded onto the tank

Brake lines done

Should have this soon too
