Getting there, really wanted it all back on its wheels so I can roll it to the workshop again
But I messed up the driveshaft thread !

how does the ball joint size affect the shafts?

It doesn't affect the shafts, it's the whole hub/carrier assembly which has different ball joint sizes

Haha, just read back thru posts, sorry, read it wrong, long day.

The shafts are the same length, it's the hub spline diameter on my early k10 that are to small for the k11 hubs
At some point on the facelift k10's they changed the spline diameter

But found a second hand kit on RR, but il have to see if it's still about next month

I've welded brand new k11 ball joints into my k10 lower arms. Seems to of been alright for a couple of days now

Apparently, it's a mini kit so would probably need a different trigger wheel

Il take the pulley off and stick on a lathe to cut a lip out for it to sit on, the weld it

You could but it won't work, it needs to be steel

Mine is just bolted on

I didnt need the outer section of the pully did I chopped it off and just bolted the trigger wheel on. The pully bolt goes through the wheel to clamp it in place then the three m6 bolts stop it from twisting.

I'm using a map for a mini atm but I have tweaked it a bit, It's pretty simple. There's plenty of maps on line that should be a good starting point

New problems

The wishbones touch the chassis legs once I bounce on the front off the car

Tracking is ridiculously out

Rear arches need rolling/flaring

Fronts could do with a spacer to bring them further out

Still need to put brake fluid in too

It was ok before on the k10 wishbones

But the k11's are a bit shorter and brought wheels in a bit

Can't drive it yet

All looks ok, all bolted up nice, but the wishbones touch the body when bouncing on the front of the car

Think I can sort it with a bit of 'massaging'

Alternator problems today

Thought I was being clever and thought I could put the k11 alternator pulley onto k10 alternator
But no, different shaft size,

I then thought I could make a collar, but then it would stick out to far

So instead of making a new alternator bracket, and machining a collar for the pulley........

Can I use a k11 alternator on the k10 wiring?

What year is your k10?
That alternator you have has 2 pins.
Top pin is a white/red wire leading to the auto choke relay and a diode if you have one.
Bottom pin is a white wire going to the battery

Lol thanks, I know the k10 wiring, but never seen k11 so don't know where the which colours go where if you get what I mean
