MSC track day

This more of a passing idea than something that's set in stone.

But what are people's thoughts of a msc track day?

If one was organised we would need (estimate) 25 people to make it worth while and cost effective.

Where would you like it held? Remember I do this for you so it's your choice.

Also if it was to happen I'd like to extend the offer to our overseas members, so is there anything that could be done for you?

I'm after any and all constructive ideas as to whether on not it'll be worth me trying to organise this.

Hmmmm somewhere which isn't too fast and has the technical stuff a micra is designed for...silverstone and thruxton are too quick I imagine...

I'd have to get in contact with the chosen track to find out about dedicated club track days, which would you prefer half or full day?

if we did donnington we may as well do it at japfest 2 iirc it was £600 odd for a dedicated slot just needed the numbers lol

it is for a proper track day, i was merely saying if it was donny we may as well do it at japfest 2
Oh I seeeeee. Moving on... it depends how far people are willing to travel :) get James to do his bbq... He ain't got a micra so no track time him no no

mallory,s future is in doubt apparently motty, they,re only allowed 92 days per year iirc
I was reading about this just before ppc, the local council are trying to cut it down to 48 days a year, and financially mallory cannot do that.

it can be you hire it out for the day n do timed laps.... i just thought if people dont want to spend around about 200 quid on a track day this is a cheaper alternative and as much fun.... ohh how about blyton?

I enquired about blyton a while ago £65 each depending on numbers

It comes up to 200 because of tyres, fuel, food etc :)

once my Kasandra is all finally fixed, setup n running perfecto, I'll be interested.

tracks I've been to:

Rockingham - sweeping open infield but the banked oval is too long tbh. this is more of a power track

http://micra.org.uk/threads/pollymobiles-rebuild.35251/page-8#post-413393

Oulton Park - yes my fav track. fast technical corners, hairy downhill 1st corner, great 180 cambered hairpin, scary fast double RH (careful in the damp/wet), hilarious -ve to +ve G dip before the start finish

http://micra.org.uk/threads/pollymobiles-rebuild.35251/page-52#post-512880

Castle Combe - high speed sweeping track. the very fast flatout first RH bumpy turn followed by the heavy left braking turn followed by the hard hairpin is butt clenching especially over 100mph in a turbo micra :p

http://micra.org.uk/threads/pollymobiles-rebuild.35251/page-41#post-490008

Teesside Autodrome - a very fun short technical kart track. relatively low speed due to short length but ideal for exploring the nippy cornering of the micra and I learned to chuck it towards the apex with some inertia. loadsa fun :)

http://micra.org.uk/threads/pollymobiles-rebuild.35251/page-55#post-517876

ideally I prefer full days cos gives me plenty of time to setup, test, check, retest and take all day.
can never have too much track time imo, like a kid in candy factory, only limited by track cost, and car running costs. just save up more :p

Would you say bring extra fuel?

Paul that's an awesome little write up. Always wanted a short description of each track but I can never remember em enough :p

My vote is oulton park though :) on a full day too. I'm the same as polls with setup, test, re setup, retest and race. Takes all day to do that

can you see 20 plus micra's doing a track day... its a nice thought but im not trying to put a down on the idea, its a great idea but it needs to be realistic

I'm sure with enough time and planning people will attend. Just not near shows like JAE
Blyton only required 10 for a day. May have changed now

Would you say bring extra fuel?

not essential cos you just have to google the nearest garage to the track beforehand and note how low the level can go before considering a trip to refuel. I require 98ron so have stored all the shell garages on my satnav.

bringing extra jerries would be convenient, saves having to drive out to the nearest garage.

I'd ideally like to have a garage or spare car to store all my tools.

Would love to do cadwell! Such a technical track!

Its a fantastic track. My favourite section is from the mountain and through halls bends. Good test of the car :)

Plus they do 98 ron is a nearby station just for polly

Cadwell is only 10mile max from me :)

I say make it this time next year ish. I'm going Nurburgring next year with the R-R lot (not to be confused with RR), that's not until may/june time. Gives you plenty of time to advertise, prepare, plan and mod :)

Yeah, definitely one for next year, think people are a bit busy now getting ready for JAE (plus hopefully I'll have some disposable income by then  )
