Probably a carb problem not the headgasket...but if you want to change it anyway mine was about £50 for the gasket set and £12 for the cam belt kit
What you mean hesitates, when does it do it? All the time? Only when cold etc? Does it cut out?
have you checked the vacuum lines? also, try to clean the carb - there are special sprays for cleaning.. you have to warm up the engine, then kill it, open intake, spray it inside, clean all visible parts etc.. then start the engine (will take longer to start and will also need some help from the throttle), let it run for a minute and then spray the parts inside again while running.. do not use big shots, or the engine will stop (instructions might be a bit different, with some sprays you have to let it be for a few minutes before 2nd start)
Ive just clicked about you having the cam belt changed...
Have you check the timing is still in???
I'll put money on the timing being out!
i think my dad may have a strobe light but thats in somerset which is ages away might have to leave it for a bit as xmas has chewed my wallet :blush:You really should get a strobe and check the timing on the crank pully, it should be at 0deg on the indicator
If you can get a strobe (halfords £20) let me know and ill tell you how to do it correctly
Even advance your timing
deff get the stat for a fiver its worth eliminating it. (see guide in other thread). like i said mine is only on with blue hylomar, infact i dont think its ever had a gasket in it as long as ive owned it.
any garage will have a timing gun it only will take them 5 mins to check it, i got mine off a car boot sale, it was only a pound. but there only about £20 anyway, and there a very worth while investment
