Best insurance Companies

basically im after some good insurance companies from your experience! with modifications and are at reasonable prices!

i thought about trying the sky insurance on here with the discount etc

however i want some opinions!! and companies i can call and try out

Churchills were cheap for my son age 21, tesco is cheap for me age 46, some insurance companys don't want young drivers so quote silly prices, on the other hand first central wanted nearly £500 to renew my cover for my micra, tesco did it for £180, remember it's not always cheaper on compare websites it often pays to deal with companies direct.

Admiral are definitely the best insurance company by far. I'm 21 and have 6 points on my licence for speeding. They also know about all my mods, and I have no NCB due to a claim on my insurance 3 years ago and not having a car for a year after that. £600 a year, fully comp, with breakdown and windscreen cover. I also intend to transfer my motorbike NCB onto my next policy, so as long as I don't have a crash, I'll have 2 years NCB. I did a test renewal quote for this, and it came out at £400 per year fully comp.

Swinton, by comparison - who are supposed to be the best insurance company for younger drivers - quoted my £4500 for my car, with all mods and points. The car is worth £1000 at the most.

I also did a test quote, with 2 years NCB and all points declared, for my next 2 planned cars - a pre-facelift SR (£450 fully comp with mods) and an Almera GTi (£650 fully comp). The next lowest quotes I had for these were £1500 and £3000 respectively.

So I will always stick with, and recommend, Admiral.

I got a quote from Adrian Flux yesterday at Japfest 2. £400 fully comp with my cat-back exhaust declared and any future mod's 'free'. That was with Equity Red Star. Funny thing is, I'm with them now, no declarations, for £490...

ok then thanks for this any more will be helpful! ill be rolling upto 2 yrs no claims on the 23rd my 19th to be exact so i should be alright if i shop about.... what about elephant?

I will never use flux again! Rang them for a quote on the rx8 they couldn't match the £800 tpft I got from confused.com the most expensive online quote thingy, the guy I spoke to was very rude and condescending! I then thought I'd give sky a go never used them before, spoke to Kevin very nice chap, quoted me £700, result I thought £100 cheaper! Then he added that's fully comp protected no claims!!!! Sky wins he then added when I call back to start the policy when my current one ends he will try get me an even cheaper quote!!

remember where you live is a big factor... generally more up north the cheaper...
Admiral gave me a silly quote of £830 with no mods...
swift gave me £520 with no mods...
gonna try sky myself soon as i fit into their cat. of customers...

swift wont cover me im too young haha admiral seem to be alright so far with the mods being 1300

although churchill is 973 but need to phone them about the mods!

Swift and Swinton are pretty much useless. Erm, I think the top insurers are probably Adrian Flux, Churchill, Admiral, and Sky. I think e-sure are supposed to be pretty good as well. I can give you one insurer to avoid like the plague though - Quinn. They are probably one of the worst insurance companies I've ever come across, and will never be using them again :glare:.

As I said above sky, tell them your part of a owners club too for a bigger discount! Do not use confused big names like churchhill and swift are not designed for young drivers you need specialists check the back of your car mags, banzai jap performance mags! Sky have my vote when I renew massive saving!

How big a discount did you get with Sky by telling them you are part of an owners club? I might consider using them when I renew my K11, and should have 2 years no claims by the time I renew

I think it was 15%

That's not bad. I might do a test quote with 2 years NCB, Pass Plus, and tell them I'm a member on here, just to see how much it comes out at. I have to renew in September, so it might be an idea to get looking

Just remembered Elephant came out quite cheap for me, especially with Pass Plus. I think they came out at about £800, so they're always worth a try as well (Y)

Not forgetting I'm 25 though :D

Yeah, there is that. My problem is I've got 6 points on my licence for speeding (should be interesting getting insurance quotes when I hopefully upgrade to an Almera GTI next year, then a BMW E46 330Ci M-Sport the year after that :wasntme:). But I have been driving since I was 17, and own a motorbike, and have use of a van as well, so that should stand me in good stead when getting quotes. Hopefully :grinning:

Van no claims can't be transferred to a car btw just to let you know :)
6 points you'll need a specialist then for cheaper quotes
You don't want a bimmer there ####! Stay jap mate I promise you, you'll regret a bimmer! Get a 200sx or even better a skyline everyone has a bimmer like sheep!

No, it's 1 year NCB from my motorbike, which I'm told most insurance companies will allow you to transfer across. And provided I don't wrap it round a tree in the next 2 months, that should mean I'll have 2 years.

And I really want a BMW, I've driven one and I really like them. But I've also driven an Almera GTI, and #### me do they pull . So if I get one of them, I might just keep it for a while anyway, and then upgrade to either an S14, Skyline, or a 200SX - basically my dream Jap cars

S14 is a 200sx mate :) I've got one lol
A skyline will be a similar price and insurance group to a 330ci, each to their own and that but beemers bore the crap out of me, so plain!

Yep silvia is also a s14 and 200sx just what they were called in japan, unless you are talking about an s15 which was only known as a silvia

Probably an S15 then, I know the 200SX as having a solid rear brake light (one piece of red plastic, with 200SX engraved in the middle), flip-up headlights, and quite square/pointed at the front. And then the Silvia as being slightly curvier, and having seperate brake lights

They also did the varietta versions of s13 and s15 which are just none turbo convertibles

Well now, you learn something new every day . The bottom picture is the one I know as the Silvia, as that seems to be what you see most of around my way, and the second one down is what I know as the SX. We have quite a few of those around here, mostly local drift cars

Sorry:)
But I have pretty much summed it up for you, you need a specialist insurer as your under 25 I'm guessing?? So the big names aren't always the best check the back of jap mags as they are generally the cheapest for enthusiasts, the next point is everyone is different, different age, experience, area, history etc so my insurance quote with one company might be higher for you but less for you with another.
I would ring the companies and say you've been quoted £800 see if anyone will match or beat it
Try Adrian flux and sky, they are two big specialists that you can play off against one another as sky generally will go lower than flux in most cases

Well if you end up paying your insurance monthly, it's always going to come out more expensive (normally by an extra £200/£300) than if you paid it off in one go, due to admin fees and what have you. Better off trying to pay for it in one go and save yourself some money (Y)

not having any luck most are saying im too young as ill only be 19 on the date of renewal the best io have so far is admiral multicar with both my parents coming out at 1100£ which is still enough

Adrian Flux and Chris Knott have sorted me out over the last few years, I go with whoever is the cheapest on renewal. I am actually insured by the same company as last year, brokered by Chris Knott, this year brokered for a bit cheaper than the CK renewal by Flux.

tried them both nether would insure me due to age and flux wanted about 1700 with mods

funny thing is im holding the engine change swap till last minute after the quote but there all high enough so i hang up before i mention it!

im saying about zorst, lows and wheels and body mods
