Tailgate spoiler removal - fixed.

Hi everyone hope you can help.

The painted part of the tailgate spoiler on my son's Micra vanished over the weekend, not sure if it was nicked or got caught by the wind. I have managed to get a second hand replacement but can't work out how the painted part detatches. I don't have the car with me until next week when he is coming down before Christmas but want to be ready to fit it when he is down. Any guidance gratefully received.

OK so I have done the job and it's quite simple. Inside the tailgate at the top are three rubber bungs behind which are three bolt with 10mm nuts, take care not to drop one inside the tail gate. At each end still inside the tailgate are six torx head bolts three either end, these hold the spoiler and the end pieces, which are separate to the spoiler. You are the up against 3m adhesive tape along the top edge outside and at either end. I used my plastic bodywork tools to pry it up and once going it comes away with a bit of pulling. You then have to disconnect the brake light connection and the washer connection, an extra pair of hands helps so as not to drop it on to the car. We then removed the sticky layer from the car with Wd40 and a cloth, after this it was degreased and panel wiped before applying a new run of 3m tape. I had already prepped the replacement spoiler to go back on. Refitting is just the reverse and the extra pair of hands helps with alignment. I could only get a gloss black replacement but it looks like it's always been there.
I had a look at the parts coming off the car and I suspect at some point in the past somebody had tried to take it off incorrectly by breaking the top painted bit off as all it's brackets showed evidence of a glue and the 3m tape was the factory fit. I suspect but can't prove it that the dealer did it when replacing the washer jet back in 2022 as you can get to it without removing the whole spoiler.
Anyway my son is happy so all is good.
