wide wheel help offset ect

hi guys new here and need some help i have a 53 plate 1L micra with 14" wheels 165/70/14

I want to put some large arches on that are 3.9" wide so i need to push the wheels out to fill the gap
I have a few options
1. banded wheels
2. wider alloys
3.spacers
4.mixture of wheels and spacer

I want to move up to a 16" wheel steel/alloy am i right in thinking the standard wheel is 5" wide so if i get a 7.5 or 8J wide the wheel will be pushed out 3" ish and that i should keep to same ish offset

any help will be great
