whats happened to my thread

I love this forum and spend alot of time on here. A couple of things irk me about it though.

1. The site organiser never acts on any suggestions for improvements. eg. the front page of this site shows we have a K11 area, it doesn't mention K10, K12 or K13. When ever I raise the matter, I just get a vague 'oh, it's a caching issue'. SO? Sort it! I pay hard earned money for the site and expect to be able to access the are of the site that relates to MY car.

2. One of the mod's (who shall remain nameless) has a real attitude problem. When I became a full member on hear again a year or so ago after a break of a few years, I replied to an old thread asking for information. The mod immediately locked it saying 'old thread - closed!'. So what the **** if it was old?! I was after information that would have ben useful to me and other people. Who gives a flying you know what how old it was?!

Perhaps people would join in and help more if we felt we were EVER listened to?!

Whew, that feels better :).

I totally dissagree with the above statement, we have always been open to suggestions and improvements to the site and in most cases things that do get suggested are reviewed and added to the site.

Ok, things might not get done straight away and yes I'm sure the forum / site could be even better and improved further. However with busy work commitments James and myself can only do so much. Some people here are so quick to critise to us, yet when I offer positions and further involvement in the MSC, nothing ever happens.

We only do this for you, we give up are free time to help to make this club what it is today, the growth, development and recognition this club has achieved is oustanding considering it's small base of staff and members.

Sometimes I wonder why we even bother with this anymore, the MSC is run and operated with such a small group of people, yet some of it's members want the earth. I have been considering my position for time now and unless things change, this will be my last year with the club.

Without further input from it's members, the MSC will never go any further, the club in my opinion has become stagnant, due to the complete lack of input from it's members.

I've offered my free time to help you guys ( I have too much if it anyway lol)

Both Elliot and I have offered to help out and so have other members regarding newsletter and meets. Is anything officially backed by yourself going to happen or was it a spur of the moment kinda thing?

Either way my offer stands :)

Is a democratic system a no go then Kev? I personally think it could work quite well, admitably would mean more organising.

So the different 'roles' are outlined. people then stand for those roles and a vote is set up (possibly just as a poll in individual threads?) It would of course need an overseer (prob have to be you Kev). Maybe if people were voted in by 'the people' then they would take their job more seriously and put more effort it?

Good idea in theory, however I come back to my point about commitment.

It's one thing saying 'I'll do it' but to actually follow through on that promise is completely different. I don't think voting people in will make much difference to be honest, it still comes back down to being committed to the task in hand.

I come back to the point about the MSC newsletter, would it really be that hard for 3 or 4 people to knock up some reviews, find interesting micra related topics, gather photo's from meets, gather information on member car builds, etc etc.

If people are too busy / don't want to take these roles on, then fine I have no issues with that, but don't critise and moan at the admin team when things don't get done or people don't get what they want.

mine to, with the little 'un imminent I'll have more free(ish) home time

Kev don't throw in the towel without yourself James and Ed (sorry if I've missed anyone) this club would not exist

I will be contacting those people who have offered to take on roles over the next few days.

How do we do that Frank with such a small operating budget?

To be honest I would be more then happy to pay James for his services to the MSC as he deserves it for his time and effort he puts in here.

The problem is time, not money, I know James does everything he can for this site 'when he can do so', but you can't expect him to put this site before his other work commitments. What ever was paid to James would be far insignificant to his other work commitments.

surely, if james was paid for his services he could keep on top of the software problems tho kev ?

actually after giving it some thought, I will be issuing James with a small payment from the MSC for the server change and where possible I will also issue future payments for his services.

This is the very least I can do as Chairman, we are very blessed to have someone of James's caliber to run our server / site, because even with my technical knowledge I would struggle to achieve what he has done here over the years and I for one are extremely grateful to James for his continued commitment and dedication to the MSC.

Kev, I'm always more than happy to help. With regard to the my bugbear of the site only showing K11 on the front page, I'd be more than happy to take a look. I'm IT savvy and also have way too much spare time :).

well you say that kev how about recruit a couple more mods... as i dont see mods on here much and maybe with a couple more prepared to put time in to help the site run smooth then work load would come off your backs as well...

it seems as if our little micra community is rusting away in a scrapyard waiting t go into a crusher

I don't think the MSC needs to many more mods to be honest, maybe just another one to the team.

In terms of moderating the forums, there aren't a great deal of daily problems that need the input from a moderator, on the whole the day to day posting is fine.

apologies if I'm being thick, but what part of the homepage just shows the K11? Could you possibly post a screen shot or be a bit more detailed.

thanks

well if you say you dont need more mods... ive only ever known of you kev, james and ed i dont know of any others maybe as the site grows the managment needs to grow too...

like im pretty sure some of the things that get closed down due to behaviour or whatever could just go with a public talking to

like thats thread with the k12 being a renault etc was a bit harsh yes but was a good debate

i noticed that with that thread you wanted to close down with the insurance stuff very recently but that went on well and blew over but made a good read...

i see old members and they say banned on them but noone knows why... it would be good to know why

I agree that we could have a section where there is a list of 'banned' members and the reasons why and there return date.

This however would be for members only and would be a closed forum.

Having met Kev and James, I know they both run very busy lives, kev running a family business aswell! Considering that I think the site is one of the best around, well organised mantained and has a great community spirit, sure it has some bad points but what dosnt? I would be extremeley sad to see the site go down.

I'm Back

All i'm back,

thanks to all those who have shown there support for me, i never knew i ment that much :)

at the end of the day, people have differences in life, but just get on with it, so why not do the same here.

"you cant please all of the people, all of the time"

seems to ring true here.

in my opinion everyone is as much to blame in certain circumstances. yes people are quick to jump on the Mod's backs (some right and some wrong) but then again the mods are just as quick to jump onto things (again some right and some wrong)

im not going to close the thread as there maybe some things people want/need to say.

anyway im back, feels good lol

Welcome back :).

Kev, this is the link:

If you look at the source code for the front page, the other links aren't hidden, they're not there at all :).

If I click the Guides & FAQ, it brings down K10, K11 & K12,

Is that what you are refering to?

Welcome back Scott :) I know how infuriating it can be to be treated in that way, lets hope whoever it is learns some lessons from this.

did you really make that other account "k11 sr" or something???
proper funny:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

yea i did, and with my constant need to help people, even on my fake account my second post was helping someone :)
