what did you do to your micra today ?

The weight is what will be in your favour, some websites that let you estimate quarter mile from 0-60 time won't even let you put in a car under 900kg, the weight-reduced kerb weight of a lotus elise basically. A micra with a little weight reduction (seats out) is 700-750kg and 70% of that is over the front wheels. Small wheels fat tyres

The cars on that list are powerful big blocks but they're heavy, a porsche boxster wouldn't stand a chance

Yes this car will probably no longer be my daily this summer, so it'll finally be time to full strip it out. That should take the acceleration to another level!

Mines stripped out with sound deadening removed, but a roll cage fitted, so comes in at 850kg.

With a proper 'dyno' 112hp it did the 1/4 in a shade over 16 secs, albeit with a sticky caliper.

Got my 4th possibly 5th back box in the 8+ years I have had the slx, changed the center pipe too even though it was done in 2017, there were no original center pipes with the resonator available in belfast? bad sign, I was asking about a better quality system but it seems a custom built stainless steel is the way to go. £90 and it is driving better

Wow. I cannot imagine how you managed to get through four back boxes in sequence on an old K11?

My K11 is in its 23 year & still on its all original Nissan exhaust together with all original engine/transmission/suspension/running gear, only consumable service parts have been changed during its 47K invoices, old MOT certs documented audit trail service history.

That’s what I call true Japanese K Series car cheap as chips “Bangernomics” motoring with 100% reliability. That’s what original Nissan design engineers optimised set up to be assembled Nissan OK at Sunderland, right first time every time.

Enjoy cheap as chips "Bangernomics Motoring"! ;)

Yes they are reliable little things?

Doubled the 1998 Micras value as the Mrs filled it with a £250 shed load of shopping including the new Crypto currency to die for; - Bog Rolls!

Shopping madness if you can’t beat em, we joined em.

Happy K11 Micra days.

Yeah this virus thing is getting crazy, I really hope it gets better soon

Finally painted the mudflaps gloss black, and used a white paint pen to make the micra logo stand out on the mudflaps. Installing it on the car tomorrow ?

Yeah that's seems to be a fair point as brakes could lock up easily
I beg to differ, if you can lock up your brakes under good conditions you don't need bigger brakes, for tracking a car where you are doing repeated hard braking, preventing brake fade due to heat build up is important, so vented disks would be a worthwhile upgrade. Larger disks would take away brake feel and make it more likely that you lock the brakes (yes they can add thermal mass and therefore take longer to over heat but increased venting or cooling would be better imo). A pad upgrade to a more heat tolerant compound would also be a good idea. Potentially ducting cooling air to the disks would be another cheap improvement. But have the brakes begun to fade on a hard run in the first place?
I think some have installed Honda civic radiators to increase cooling.

Thanks for the advice mate.
no they don’t fade much under enthusiastic driving but the overall braking force isn’t adequate enough. On a track they probably will fade.
Regarding cooling, I’m going for a plug and play automatic Micra rad as they’re much thicker than manual Micra rads. Manuals have 16mm thick rads, autos have 26mm thick rad

he might have meant them locking on when the brake fluid boils and over-expands, not sure if vented discs would help this or if you'd need carbon/ceramics or those squeaky ones that I forget the name of. This happened to me once just during regular driving, once the brake piston comes out a little too far and it trails and creates friction, the problem only gets worse as the brakes are getting hotter and hotter

The car being light works out well for track use though, less mass to stop means less energy to dissipate through the brakes

Either way a brake upgrade is always good, everyone talks about horsepower but stopping power is an afterthought lol

Got a good clean on the go, pleased with the results! However noticed a lot of tiny car park dents which is a shame. Not sure if it’s worth looking into paintless dent removal, or just leave it!

Yes, that is what I meant. But yeah, is a good idea to upgrade the braking system if you're taking the car to the track

Car looks great mate, need to definitely clean mine soon, checked the weather and it says there's no chance of rain for this week! ?

Even though we are self-isolating ?

I'm hoping to get a bit done too now it's quiet, still not sure how strict this lockdown is going to be though

They aren't allowing us to go outside now unless it's necessary here in the UK. So we can only go for essential shopping, one exercise a day, etc. They are going pretty strict now so it's stop the spread of the virus. Unless you have a garage, I'm screwed and can't do anything to my car for a while now because of this ?

Do you really think they'll kick off if you're under a car on your driveway / just outside your house. That seems unreasonable.

yeah I'm not sure how much of an issue it will be if I go sit out next to the car, it's the door cards I need to take off while it's dry out

I'll play it by ear I think, if people start ignoring the advice for small things then people will see that and start to ignore the advice for bigger things, it's like a slippery slope. I don't want to set a bad example or be that d*ckhead who doesn't take things seriously but at the same time it's nice out and it's a perfect opportunity to do a bit of tinkering since I don't need to drive anywhere for a while

Not really, but some have been saying that police go around our streets and asking people why they are outside. That's what annoys me. It probably isn't true though, but I don't know at the moment as I haven't seen any cops about our street yet.

Exactly. I get taking the advice seriously but do they honestly expect people to do nothing but sit on the same chair inside for a month, eating supernoodes, drinking whiskey & wanking to porn?
I mean I'm nearly out of noodles ffs!

I've read that they have dispersal orders and fines for people who are repeat offenders

I can't imagine they'll do much more than drive past and shout out the window... BWM drivers, always giving it large

After putting it off for so long, I finally decided to get a custom catback fitted to the sleeper Micra!

I'm genuinely so pleased with it, massive power and torque release! 0-60 wise it is around 6.8 sec now and it literally pulls all the way up to 8000rpm now, whereas before it used to run out of puff at 7500rpm! Can't wait to get it dynoed soon.

I got the system made and fitted by MIJ Performance in Walsall. They have done a cracking job! I asked them to make it as quiet as possible with a single downwards pointing tailpipe to go with the sleeper theme! It sounds amazing, I love it when it hits aggressively off the limiter!

I got to see this 1100bhp Skyline as well. They built this themselves and use it at SantaPod. It was running in the 10's and that was when it was 800bhp!
Fully forged with a massive turbo and Nos!

Awesome, can't wait to see what it sounds like

Well, this may not be relevant to the forum but this just happened ?

As @St0rm91 & @MattInARedMicra were discussing about it being fine to go outside to do stuff to cars while this new rule was set of staying inside your home.

I also totally agree it's fine to do stuff to our cars while this strict rule is set. But today I was just going to just tigthen my rear mudflaps on and I was parking down the street as there wasn't any parking space near my house and then this utter knob steps out and starts complaining why I'm not inside.

Bare in mind there was no one around our street. I was literally going to tighten 3 screws and go back home, instead I was having an argument with this delusional knob.

I actually got it on my dashcam for proof (sorry for the audio and video quality as it was broken but got the audio)

I still can't believe this happened ?

Yeah its kinda a difficult situation tbh. I just went out to go give food to my grandad and it amazed me the amount of cars driving everywhere! Didn't even feel like a 'lockdown'. Really don't know whats going to happen in 3 weeks :/ 2020 has been so **** so far.

Thing is I wasn't going anywhere unnecessary, I just went to the shops to get the essentials and came back and parked down my street where I was going to tighten my mudflaps and then he came out of nowhere complaining. I understand that we should stay inside but I was literally only going to take max 5 mins and then go back home.

I'm truly not liking the way 2020 is going so far, with also car events/shows cancelling as well ?

Yeah I think the issue is more the sort of people that were going to the beach and snowdonia up until saturday and now we are all having to pay the price for it!
Snowdonia's busiest day for tourists on record was last saturday!

Yeah, so I do understand how this is all effecting us. Moral of the story is to just stay home until cases stop rapidly going up.
