V reg micra 1.3i running rich

my micra smells like its running rich as the smell of petrol from the exhaust when running is quite strong what could cause this

you,re best to test the signals from the lambda middle wire first really septic (easier to assess with an a/f/r gauge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxIKR5OjVcA but it should bounce between .4 and .6v @ cruise/fast idle)
