You kidding Paul?! I bet your garage looks like an operating theatre
I think Paul's is no doubt a surgically clean gig eh?
not kidding my workspace is an absolute mess since this engine drama back in Jan along with the crazy hours of the new company.
my workspace is basically a storage bin for all my parents vintage crap (old restaurant stuff, tables, VCRs, heater cabinets, plumbings, glass, etc) and all my tools n parts are in there somewhere in a tiny space. bit like ur shed chris.
since the engine drama I had engine bits all over, spare broken engines here there, grinding dust n rubbish all over, cardboard bins full, loadsa oily rags. I have an order of where tools n stuff goes into boxes/tubs and would put all tools back (unlike my parents who leaves the tools around the house which fizzes my blood) but with the intense workload of the new company, no time n effort to clear up, crap builds over time.
now with the car up n running, work kinda stabilizing and summer appearing, I'll soon have a "stop it and tidy up" moment
Sure is no, it's the beginning of my experiment to finally put the 'are cut springs stiffer?' debate to bed! I'm 99% sure they are but my course mate will not listen to maths or reason... And Google is just full of bull**** assumptions and no evidence. Is that a massive anal prob Ed? Silver 4 foot thing with a coil on the end?
In the house!! That way other people make the tea.Wheres the kettle??

i sense a thread tangentcut springs arn't stiffer, spring rate stays the same lol
i sense a thread tangent
less coils have to move further = stiffer
cut springs arn't stiffer, spring rate stays the same lol
Please express your views in my newly created threadFrom my limited experience I found cut springs are as hard as a turd left out in the sun for a week.

Bet he wanted a go on it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh yeh you should have seen james may face when he seen the frankspeed dished steels today outside bbc
Edit# Jen gets a princess layer/cave thing ...
BTW...No pictures...it's pissin' it down outside, and I can't be bothered right now
I make lots of ID10t errors when it comes to compression and tension. You should see me attempting to resolve stresses in a frame lol. But yes, spring rate is inversely proportional to number of active coils, simple as. Active coils go down, spring rate goes up.It's not Google's fault, it's down purely to 'ID10t' errors I wager that even if you post up undeniable evidence on utoob, you'll still get a bunch of cretins posting up how you faked it in some fashion.
Purely as a joke, we should make up some kind of novelty JAE t-shirt sporting Hooke's Law

New CG13DE 13K engine + Standard Gearbox + Rebuilt CG13DE Gearbox with Gripper LSD in a few days... BAM
Its about the rate at which compression induces torsion into the wire. More coils means the wire twists less per length of displacement, so spring rate goes down.
lowrider... looking forward to being around @ the same time for uni mansweet!! where from??

Rightly so. I think once the 29th of July hits, you will be seeing a lot of progress happening. Actually maybe a few days later... I plan on making up for the sleep I have lost over the last year.yeah no doubt!! will be following this thread closely till then
I get the feeling soldering will be needed lots offClean bay would be epic but difficult... Especially with the extra gubbins... Would gladly help if u wanna have a go though
Well the soldered crimp sleeves are a clever ideaget electrical joiner crimps and use copex where the wires have to be exposed to the elements
