Yeah, polo ones are but Ash is wanting corsa onesMy polo ones are a standard spring over shock design ?
Yeah, polo ones are but Ash is wanting corsa ones
There's always one
Mine are fitted but to a k10 so I dont know if there would be much difference. I put the top cup on the spring and the micras top mount directly on top. Other than modifying the bottom bushes and mount they were an easy fit
You dont have to use the micra spring cup as well, it just gives a good footing for the use of the micra top bearing. Like i was saying about my polo ones you dont have to use the micra bearing, just one that fits and suits the application.
The bearing on a micra is a crappy plastic thing that sits between the spring cup and the top mount, if you take apart your front strut you'll see what i mean. The reason people use the micra top spring cup is cause it allows you to use that bearing with its intended mountings, it does however take up a lot more thread and make assembly a bit iffy (no helper springs usually).o i see. so chucking top mount on the coilover will do the job. all this bearing business is confusing. where is the actual bearing. in the top mount?

Ive not seen how others have mounted polo fronts at the top, the use of the micra top cup is how a few of the guys on corsas have done it though im sure it would work with polos too, you just have to make sue its all safe before you run with it.ah i see. but as long as its safe im fine with that. only thing id have to watch out for is the drilling out of one of the bottom mount holes. ill order them once i know what my balance is.
you have to be careful how you assemble the topmount, else you end up with the top nut undoing itself every time you turn the steering (like someone on here did ) http://www.micra.org.uk/threads/corsa-b-coilovers-to-fit-micra-how-too.46092/
the factory corsa mount is the safest option imo
the corsa coily is designed to fit under the factory corsa top mount, the k11 top mount is a very different design, that nylon thrust washer/bearing supports the full weight of the car, and allows the spring to rotate with the steering, and it will outlast the cari read through that and i didnt understand a word of what they were saying. i reckon the polo coilovers will be ok with the micra top mount and bearing. should be safe.
I left my micra ones on my old struts so the coilies dont knacker them if i wanna go back anytime lol, heavy duty golf bearing/washers here nowthe corsa coily is designed to fit under the factory corsa top mount, the k11 top mount is a very different design, that nylon thrust washer/bearing supports the full weight of the car, and allows the spring to rotate with the steering, and it will outlast the car

You dont have to, just i did cause it saved taking my old struts apart and using washers and tosh to make it fit
Mine go down and inward. But I've got over 2deg of camber now lol
the rear ones you mean?ah okay nice one! iv got them ordered up now aswell. one quesstion did you grind down the shocks or cut them down to fit? thats my only worry really.
the rear ones you mean?
easy job getting the rubber bushes off :/ never ending work this this businessYou take the rubber bush out grind the mount down to the right size and a bit less. Bring the bush down to same width. Then have two large rubber/nylon washers either side (that's why you grind down a bit more)
I made my own poly bushes to suit
5-6mm either side iircyeah for the rears cause from the lowering guide you need to take off quite a bit :/

5-6mm either side iirc
No not really there a right pain. But I cut mine one side and pressed it out. Used a large rubber/nylon washer to cover missing side. Then I ended up with those poly things
Not always a bad thing if its your living
That's exactly why I did both
This second set are here. Picked em up last night. I'll get a few pictures of how (and when) I put em together
You can't do if both sides for the k11 or the coilovers will catch on the boot recess and wear stuff away and squeak and basically just won't work.wow 5 mm either side on the lowering guide its just grinded down on one side of the shock tho. i assume its works just as well if you do both sides. id rather do both sides rather than just one so its looks more balnced than just cut to F***

You have to do it all on one side to achieve enough offset to clear the underside if the car.
Jeez are you a worry wort Ash Get on and get it done, plenty have done it before you and afaik none have died in a fiery ball of doom.........!! Yeto. is it solid because in the lowering guide it looks like a right bodge job.

Yeah mine are solid mate, they handle what I throw at them and ade can back up they must be solid after that .
The ones on the lowering guide are also solid, been run like that well over a year iirc and his cars fine
The only difference with corsa to polo is that you mod the bottom less, you'll still have to find a way of doing the top mount so make sure youve got some bits handy lol
Yeah you can do it like that I believe, I didn't try with mine though
£80 delivered, direct replacement. All you need to do is adjust it.
Where is your top spring cup??here is what its like now. any ideas where im going wronge. the springs do rub on the boot recess atm aswell
Where is your top spring cup??
There should be metal cup which sits on top of the spring which the shock pokes through.
They look fine otherwise mate.
these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COILOVER-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a2d6bf958 helpers are out aswellAre these 6n or 6n2 coilies?
I took my helpers out
They do only lower "70mm". Some sets lower 100mm.these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COILOVER-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a2d6bf958 helpers are out aswell

That's 70mm on a polo remember... And also was the weight of the car on them in those photos? The helpers were barely compressed!
