And inside were lots of shiny bits and new rubbery parts...
So started reassembly and finished cleaning off the head to be sent for a quick skim :)
That's all I'm waiting for now :)

List that needs doing before JAE...
• Paint engine bay. DONE
• Fit new engine clutch and box. DONE
• Fit new exhaust system. DONE
• Replace shocks front and rear. MEH FUNDS LOW WILL WAIT TILL AFTER JAE
• Check Pads and swap out if needed. ALL GOOD
• Adjust handbrake so it actually grips. IT WORKS... SORT OF.
• Repair small crack in front bumper.
• Repair crack in grill. IT WILL DO.
• Repair side skirt passenger side.
• Move rear led strip further down to allow more light flooding. CANT MOUNT IT ANY LOWER.

Phew... loads to do!!!!!

Days off so far... Day 1- finally fitted the sportex system! Sounds mental!Love it! Was a bugger to get the rear box to seal correctly as it was leaking something chronic...
Wouldn't of been able to get it on without Chloes help it was a night mare getting the old one off...

Day 2 - Took the head down to a marine engineers to get checked and possible skim he said it was perfect already... sweet!
Not so much luck for Chloes head far too corroded he said it's not worth it.

So fly home first proper drive with the exhaust system hot wow wow wow sounds like amplified thunder!
Will do videos over the next few days for sound ect.

Get home and finish the cg auto!
Cleaned faces of block and head several times to make sure it's going to allow a perfect seal.
Then unwrapped the Victor reinz gasket Mmmm quality...

Placed on the block.
Got Chloe to help me guide the head into position with a nice confirming click.

Kinda forgot to take photos from then due to excitement!
Timed it all up using pictures I took when I first pulled it apart.
Counting links in chains haha.
Turn it over a fair few times lines up perfectly as it used to :) happy days.
Now the easy stuff left to go.
This is what it looked like on leaving the garage...

Now to get my hands on an engine crane and remove Millies leaking old heart for this new one
For now tho I have nothing else to report.

So on Tuesday these arrived...
1438801138806.jpg

New toyo T1Rs to replace my knackered front ones...
Got them fitted today then took it for tracking no wonder they wore out quickly! 9mm out... not cool!

Got her back home such a difference.
1438801384219.jpg

Did some tapping of old bolt holes and cleaning up gloop that had been pushed out the sealing faces...
Then Chloe sends me to run erands because her car can't for reasons I'm sure she will explain.
On my travels I find this! Quite possibly the cleanest looking PAO ever!

Got back and carried on with finishing items on the engine.

Need a crane... asap!

Noticed the sportex was knocking on the rear axle... Bloody thing...
So had a play about under the car trying to sort this annoying issue, Chloe twisted the rear centre section while I pushed the back box up to stop the knock seems to have now sat much nicer both underneath and also now lines up with the bumper.

Gave it a real good wash also but unlike me I took no photos...

stiffen the old rubber hangers stuffed with piece of wood & zipties to stop it moving about?
The rubbers were in good nick tbh Paul the sportex does not come with flanges to put the exhaust together instead the pipes slot together and then use U clamps to seal.
Obviously this allows the pipes to be orientated at different angles so just needed a little tweak to get the system perfect :)

mines like that too

Engine crane arrived today so I finally could get the engine off the bench and finally put the oil pick up and sump back on... what a fun job that was!
Just resting on the garage floor now...
Just need to get some castrol engine oil and some gearbox oil. Pretty sure that's all I need now :)

Days off at long last 15 nightshifts on the trot...
Today is the day we remove an engine that has done 147,790 miles of hard graft... and replace with the CG13 auto I have rebuilt. Updates later on today :)

best of wishes it goes in & runs smoothly ;)
double check every single nut & bolt torque.

So finish work after an 8 hour shift been awake since 2pm yesterday afternoon.
Get home pull Millie in front of the garage... knowing it was the last time that her old engine would pull me along many miles, was sad I guess...
Grill headlights and bumper first then time for the engine strip down...
Pictures speak a thousand words I guess...

1440951641886.jpg

It's all in the details :)
Cleaned up the very oily grubby gearbox and gave it a quick lick of paint not overly happy with it but it will do...
Day two over.
Engine in tomorrow is the plan.

Day 3

Engine and gearbox mated.
Sorted out most of the wiring.
Just need to reconnect battery and other electrics.
Plumb in the throttle body.
Fit air intake.
Exhaust manifold and 1st cat.
Radiator and coolant.
Fresh oil.
Fresh gear oil.
