Photos & Ownership rights query

Hi people

Am i able to use a photo of another persons modified car, snapped at JAE to advertise a service on my website, even though i took the original photo? or would i need the owner's permission. I'm not too sure you see!

If you took the photo its your rights, although diod you have permision to take the photo if so then it;s fine if not you will have to ask mate.

well from what ive heard from my photography tutor at college, as im currently doing a project on cars, is that you will not need the owners permission if you take the photograph for yourself and you will not gain any money from it.

but as you wish to use it for advertising a service, then i believe that it would be safer fo you to find the owner and ask their permission and get something in writing!! Better to be safe than sorry....

if its in a public place or at a public event then the owners of the vehicles agree's at the door to have their vehicle publisised...... my car is on about 50 web sites.... not one has asked me for permission..

Yes they would do actually, that one in his avatar has a watermark on it, so to get the full size one you'd have to pay.

In fact it's safe to say if you've been to any major Santa Pod event, there's one guy that will have a picture of your car entering the grounds that you can buy!
