it looks good fun chip , how,s the feel etc of that gripper diff ? (torquesteer ?, lift understeer ? is it 1.5 way ?)

it is very good fun and embarasses cars with alot more power. the diff is great its really tight you can get the car to oversteer and step out which is lots of fun on the loose :grinning:. couldnt tell you if its a 1.5 way you'd have to ask matt humphries where it came from.

They're 1.5way clutch type LSDs with 40/65 ramp angles, giving mild/medium lock on the overrun and medium/heavy lock under power. Tbh they're a bit radical for a roadcar without pas but when driven hard they make a considerable improvement......can't wait to try it at Goodwood in May ;)

I competed on the rali bro teifi on saturday. car was going really well through the first two selectives until on the third selective i got a bit excited and kept the power on with full lock and broke a cv joint. needless to say gutted but shes fixed now and will be back out in two weeks on the night owl.

Do you do many non Welsh RR? I've not done many but wondering if our paths would have crossed....

Yeah - I've only done a few, my husband [superuno on here] is better placed to advise as he's been competing longer and done more, but the ones I'd recommend are The Preston which is the first weekend in December, very rough, lots of whites etc used and based in Norfolk / Suffolk. The other one which I did for the first time this year is The Carpetbagger, based in Devon and starts near Honiton. Def a good nav needed as a reasonable chance you'll need to cut and it can be tricky there. I'm looking at doing The Drystone in July too which is supposed to be good, Derbyshire area I think. The Bagger and Preston came in Motorsport News' top 3 RR to do, along with Cliwendeg [sp?] I think but you won't need me to tell you anything about that one :)

The Carpetbagger and Drystone would be two very good road rallies, the Preston is of course the toughest road rally out there due to the rough / tough nature of the terrain......

thanks. ive heared that the carpetbagger is good. the preston sounds like a real car tester like the classic tracks in west wales. have you competed on any welsh road rallys yet?

i dont know i vaguely remember someone mentioning the cilwendeg;).
i just hope i do well enough this year to get an entry for the 50th cilwendeg it should be epic.

Oh well if you vaguely know it that's ok then.....!! :p

Yeah Bagger is def good, different challenge to The Preston though. I've not done any rallying in Wales though Matt aka Superuno has.

you should come over for a go theres an event pretty much every week. events like bro teifi, 1000 lanes, classic tracks, sarn helen, farrington trophy are all worth doing. but if you plan to ever do the classic tracks rally dont use a car that you like use a shed.

LOL. Would like to at some point, know some who do, few things I've heard aren't so encouraging but should see it for myself really! Would've done the Welsh Enduro but it's not running again this year....

Classic tracks isn't running this year as the club will be running the Bro Tysul instead. Not heard encouraging things about Welsh events??Seriously, you got to get yourself down here or even WBCC area. The events are amazing and the best no-nonsense and nothing to catch you out events. Basically quickest crew wins.Simple as that.No silly navigation or anything to catch you out.

Carpetbagger though I agree is a must.Closet you'll ever get to a Motoring News event but was very hard adjusting to one thing that was very scary.Won't say no more but people who have done it will know what I'm talking about.I found it very difficult to get used to

I've heard the lanes etc are fantastic but heard from a few people it helps if you are Welsh, that's why I said I would have to judge for myself!!

PM me re Bagger as done it and not 100% what you mean.....!!

I don't know....The top local boys around here are seriously, seriously quick. I was marshalling on the Bro Teifi and was reminded at just how quick some of them are.Unbelievable!! Plus, tendancy is.....the same roads do get used on most rallies so they know the roads pretty well also.

PM'd you about the Bagger.

were out competing on the 1000 lanes road rally this weekend, 3 laps of walters arena then into the lanes for the night section. the micras going great now its got a new std box (thanks to matt humphris for the box and the knowledge of how to put it together, i was totally baffled about why it wouldnt fit until someone pointed out the final drive was different to my original one) and new paddle clutch cant wait now :grinning:

we had a great day and nights rallying yesterday we finished 9th overall and 1st semi-expert. the micra was awesome never missed a beat even when we went through a ford and the water was over the bonnet.
this photo was taken by my friends caron and huw of us in walters arena

im thinking of building a new engine for my micra with hopefully more power. (currently has about 110bhp at flywheel not tested tho)
can anyone tell me how much power i could potentially get out of a 1.3 engine if i throw enough money at it eg, re-bore, throttle bodies etc?
or who i should talk too?
thanks chip

Matt H (MPH on here) is the best person to talk too. You cant re-bore, you could put a 1275cc engine head on a 1348cc block to keep the same set up to get more cc. light flywheel, steel crank & new pistons, and a ported head with a set of cams. 140bhp id say.

Why can't you re-bore? If you use high comp pistons you have to re-bore as the pistons are oversized :p

I figured it was a restriction or something perhaps. I know we go to 71.5mm on the CG13 with new pistons, so still some wall left.

took the car to mosleys garage in llandeilo today to put it on his rolling road.
first time he run it up it had 109bhp at the fly/ 88bhp at the wheels.
he then changed my std fuel pressure valve for an adjustable one and run it up a couple more times
eventually after a bit of adjustment it was 116bhp at the fly/ 95 at the wheels so im pretty happy with that

i picked up a disc brake rear beam for my micra today it needs a bit of a clean up but it looks pretty good, i just wanted to know if it will fit straight on to my car or if i will have to modify anything.
thanks,
chip

just bought this car so hopefully ill have as much fun and luck as dale with all his finishes. My mk1 escort is quick but like 1000s of pounds regularly inputed into it which aint fun. fingers crossed:laugh:
