Mods for under £50

Do you think you can make car badges with a 3D printer? It's probably fairly easy, but it's the chrome finish that I'm not sure about.

the sidewalls of a raw print would at first be quite ripply and the top surfaces would be abit rough but I heard they could be smoothed out by rough sanding/filing/milling.
then fine smooth by brushing or baking acetone onto the surface to melt it.
then you could spray chrome paint over it?
 
after few days, the printers all fixed and better than ever

At my college we have a mega 3d printer...
Made lots of bits, and to get them smoothed we sanded, filled then Sanded smooth before painting :) would remove any flexibility though

suppose it's just like applying body filler on a body panel.
the raw print is like freshly applied rough filler,
then you sand down the peaks till it matches the target dimensions/panels,
reapply & resand filler onto the pin holes if required,
prime n paint
