Dont hold your breath loool

Maybe 3 more months until i get the pistons and the other parts, but half of the way is made... :p

get those cams in eh
they look quite pointy for a long duration eh but i think they,re shaped to smack the valves open and shut very quickly so that you dont sacrifice the lowdown grunt,
you can see on mine where the piper exhaust cams are more rounded, but when i took my 1.0 to nearly 9k rpm it shows that these CG,s will stand faster acceleration on the valvegear (and i took mine to 7200 rpm at the strip the other day with no probs :wasntme:)

They look strange, got to compare them with the stock cams, they seem to have lobe re-worked, but the lower side seems to be same as stock, yours are almost at the same level as the body of the cam... What do you think about that?

he,s took 2.5mm off the base circle and nothing off the lobetop basicly baguete, and changed the timings from 42 0 0 42 to 60 20 20 60 (you wont be disappointed :grinning:)

They say:

"Inlet Clearence: STD"
"Exhaust Clearence: STD"
Cam Timing: 110º"

Yours say that also? He took 2,5mm from yours too? I dont think that the base circle was machined so much as yours, but could be my imagination... lol

Yes, i hope the they give the gains i need :p

yes stock clearance 10 thou or 1/4 of a mm, and inlet centerline is fine at 110deg for a 1.3 eh, try some different settings tho and see what you prefer :grinning:

I understand now, 7,46mm + 2,5mm (tooked off the base circle) gives 9,96mm of lift, so Geoff didnt touch the lobetop at all to get the 10mm i want. But yours look more pointy then mine, very strange i think... I will took some closeup pics tomorow for you to see.

Oh, and seems that the GTi-R calipers arrived, my brother received the packege.

Thanks for everything mate :p

those journals look very healthy eh baguete, the rings look clogged up with snot tho  (not as bad as mine were)

Yes, they are in very good condition. I think that the engine was repaired recently, the cylinder bores have some "scratches", and maybe because of that the rings didnt sealed properly. And loads of black sealent, the original Nissan seal is grey...

Is it normal to have a 0,10mm (0,004 inches) between the piston and the cylinder bore?

haynes says .01 to .03mm (.0004" to .0012 = .4 to 1.2 thou) ? that sounds very tight to me fwn

Well, i never stripped a Micra engine before, what do you think? What gap did yours had? If you saw some earlier pics, they seem a little "loose" inside the bore...

BTW, the crank journals have a part number that i cannot find on Nissan Parts Catalog, what part numbers should it have? The crank marks are easy to find, but where do i find the block marks to select the right journals?

not sure mate, there should be 5 numbers stamped into the bottom of the block too (then you subtract one from the other iirc) i would re-use those factory ones personally :grinning: or else use plastiguage, ( which is a bit of a mission  )

Been a while since i posted something new, so here we go.

Swapped the wishbones with knackered ball-joints for some new ones:

The thermostat housing is rusted, but i will replace it:

IMG_0008-25.jpg

I will turbo this engine with an IHI RHB5:

IMG_0015-16.jpg

Took it apart, meanwhile i will order a repair kit:

I will use the stock manifold, just dont know where to cut it to solder a flange:

IMG_0027-12.jpg

Installed the SR wheels, looks way better:

IMG_0033-10.jpg

Just needs some lowering, i will use my old -35mm Ventura springs, and need to buy some new shocks.

Already ordered the compressor wheel and the repair kit, 60£ for both with postage from US to Portugal, i thinks its cheap:

Once you hear it that won't matter! i was the same. :D

I didnt installed the exhaust yet, just gathering all the stuff i need.

Managed to get the head bolt for the oil feed out, had to use an easy-out:

Im having some problems with my brakes (Almera 1.4 calipers, 232mm vented discs, braided lines and Primera GT master cylinder), it used to brake more than now. On the center of the disc they have signs of overheating, but the worn of the disc seems to be uniform, and the pads dont worn at all. I have another set of GTi-R calipers on the way atm, i will install them on this Micra too.

Looking smart mate! That turbo has come up nice! So many turbos on the cards these days:)

Thanks mate. (Y)

That turbo is an IHI RHB5 from a Ford Fiesta 1.8D Boss Turbo, quite big, i cant go for low mount or top mount, i think i will go for "middle" mount. Im just checking if the stock manifold can be used, otherwise i will talk with you about a butt-weld manifold like yours. :grinning:

did the rear calipers from gti-r fitted easily?
simple replacement?
what's the mm of your rear discs?

I dont have rear discs, but i will install them when i get some brackets made up.

Installed the metal head gasket today. The engine is a bit dirty inside, but it should do:

Stock head gasket still good:
