K11: Ballin on a budget!

Hello all, as some of you may know i've been wanting to buy a k11 micra for a while now. I finally got the chance to buy one, but was out of money. My parents have lent me enough money to buy it, so untill i have paid back my loan i will not be doing anything drastic :p [HASHTAG]#Broke[/HASHTAG]

well here she is my nice little car i can call my own.

shes not without her problems and considering i only paid £450 for her this is a steal :D

the rear bumper is warped and scuffed from when it had a little accident a few years back, seller told me it was just a minor scrape from a lorry but it resulted in scratched bumpers and some paint went missing.

the seller fixed it with a rattle can and thats that, there is a miss coloration on the rear drivers side due to it, i might get round to fixing that later in time if i dont plast dip the whole car at one point ;)

theres barely any rust on this thing i only found a bit in the engine bay due to a lacking washer cap im geussing cuz its next to it

so i will be off to the scrap heap soon to find me a new one :)

i gave her a good clean yesterday for some nice pictures and just to remove all the dust from the outside and see what i had really bought

i bird had other plans tho, as i woke up this morning and found a nice big one on the passneger side door

its a very nice little car and im glad to call it my own :)

im a tall guy but the interior isnt too small i can sit in the back without hitting my head on the roof and theres plenty of leg room all round

i can see why people love these things so much for daily drivers :p

it only has 71k miles from the factory and you can tell, it runs real nice :)

interiors clean and it came with some goodies, like this aftermarket headunit with aux and USB input :L

she came with all the paper work and owners manual

and theres plenty of room in the boot for a subwoofer and some groceries

theres some sort of overspray on the interior, my uncle said it was wax and it should come right off, but havnt tried yet, i hope hes right. its in the boot and on the drivers side door panel

moving on into the engine bay, its all covered with dirt and dust but no oil leaks as far as i can see which is a good sign

I'm liking it a lot, I would love to see what you guys think, that's all for now ima need some funds to do much else and since it still needs insurance and stuff that might be a while :(

need to get a new filter, ima replace the oil filter and oil at the same time as well, ima check if the fuel filter is in decent condition before splashing soem cash one that.

So this weekend i decided to try and make a wooden parcel shelf for street cred, this is how it went:

I started with a pallet

99d0b6a0b8e3f3116588a5743e8c338e.jpg

Stripped a few peices off it and preserved the nails for recyling

fabdb761a5f325c7178c878d106d169d.jpg

I then measured the length of my parcel shelf and made a panel to length using one peice to hold it all together with the nails i salvaged

dcf2bfa81fe5b7092d6891a91b566501.jpg

I then put my parcel shelf on top and traced around it and cut it put

Using oldschool wood working methods my grand dad taught me years ago

19cb9bc7f63db762f46189c7e4952b99.jpg

I then proceeded to test fit the wooden parcel shelf like a derp and slammed the boot like i normally would, then this happened

As you can see it didnt go very well, i snapped off my 3rd brake light :S woops

Anyways so i put the parcel shelf on hold for now and decided to bodge the tail light

Tbh one of the sides was already snapped when i bought the car and it was rattleing when you drove on bumpy roads

So here is the fix process

Split the light housing apart

c0016ddcb95c08f530a817b652605b94.jpg

Put the snapped peices back in place

abb19ac303ce39c4f7d56e56daf2feb3.jpg

Used a hot glue gun to re secure the peices

7039d8362dd4cd3a1697bf34a6579872.jpg

And re assembled and re installed the light

All fixed now and no more rattle

Success

The parcel shelf adventure will continue next week will need a bunch of sanding to fit perfectly :/

Anyways

Nice work on the parcel shelf. Get it finished, borrow a mouse sander off someone to save on elbow grease.

Also I've got a rear brake light if you want it, although that fix is pretty good.

:)

Chris.
