Is this worth selling this Super S?

Hi all, a new baby forces us to change our Super S. Its an L plate 1.3 super S. Factory remote locking, alloys, coloured spoilers, electric windows, ABS, rear discs, rev-counter dash etc. Its not mint but its a solid, honest car which has covered 160k. Its been faultless for us for over ten years apart from wear and tear items and the obligatory clutch and cross-member change. It gets a service every 5 k and runs very well. Is it worth the hassle of trying to sell the car? Any comments, much appreciated. I do think the car is rare though especially with the ABS. We don't want to see it go but its just too small for our needs now.

Thanks

Advertise it for free on Gumtree, together with all the photographs & a long MOT. Depending on your location it looks like £495/£450? Deselect out the time wasters on the telephone handling them as applicant interviews asking if they have cash ready to buy it right away and if they know and decided what they're looking for. In this way you can cherry pick the ready potential buyers and avoid the time wasters. Setting the price too high/low can result in a lot of wasted time. Keep it simple stick to the basic facts to avoid confusing the customer.
As a private seller, pre-prepare a carbon copy written receipt, sold as it stands with all its faults, no warranty intended or implied. Get the customer to sign/address that they agree to these terms. Follow this and any legal comebacks are unlikely but a possibility if there is any hint that you are a trader! Be warned!

The question should be, is it worth taking the risk of being held legally responsible for any subsequent problems with the vehicle? Well, do you feel lucky?

Good luck

Interested if still for sale.

Sorry for not looking here sooner. Car sold for £250 in the end, sold it to the first viewer a couple of days after advertised locally; he was a bit of a tyre kicker. Needed it out of the way quickly and the guy seemed a bit of a super s fan. Was happy with the sale and hopefully he enjoys the car as much as we did.

Thanks all, see you soon. Mark
