Hazzy's K11 street project

So I got myself a K11 micra (1,0L), and I really want this to be a "street-legal" tuned car, that really suprises other drivers in my area. I got it bone stock, well looked after, but I quickly found it a bit powerless on the highways, haveing big problems wth hills.

The first thing I do when I want to modify cars, is replacing the air filter. I got a powerfilter and quickly and painlessly fitted it with mm to space. It didn't give me MUCH more power, but it instantly gave the car a much more deeper sound, and almost sounds like ive got a 3" exhaust all the way :grinning:

I really want to get more out of this cars engine, without it beeing "over the top" (I want it to stay street legal, so turbocharging is out of the question unless I can get emisson papers and Tüv papers on it), so Im a bit stumped over what to do next.

Ive also mounted a Auto Gauge tachometer so I can see what RPMs the car can do, but I'm a bit dissapointed over the 160km/t top speed due the the gearbox ratios.

Here's a video of the car before the tacho mount, but still with the power filter (Y)

I take suggestions with great gratitude, and there will be a coilover set and new rims rather than the stock steelies soon, when I get my first paycheck!

I've looked through the "micro-micra" thread, and EBB Dude have many great tests and conclutions. But I'm more in the market ongetting aftermarket parts, like manifolds and exhaust systems. I've found a Remus sports exhaust thats not too expensive, but I'm a bit worried about power output contra other brands.. thoughts?

Thats a very good system for very little money.
I'm sure if you talk too Frank ^^^^^^ he can sort you out with one of his modified standard manifolds.

You can see the ports are opened up and it can be nicely hidden under the standard exhaust heat shield.

You can also remove the Rev limiter with a little bit of tape explained on here in several places.
GA15-16 and SR20 throttle bodies will also make a difference these are off Almera's and Primera's predominantly.

The 1.3 Camshafts fit directly into the 1.0 and make a nice difference too the engine with their larger profile.
Here.

Weight loss will always help the car.

seemes like an easy fix yes, but do you have any number on how high RPMs the engine can tolerate before it gets unsafe? Ive seen 7,4K RPM, but thats it.. and Ill check the junkyard nearby monday if they have a 1,3L micra lying around I can jack the cams from

They have a fuel cutout which wont let you go above certain revs, mines been like this for a year and is fine revved hard alot of the time.
Also lightened flywheel, whether you buy one or get yours lightened this will help greatly.`

Aren't one of the downsides with a light flywheel that the car can't hold revs as good in uphill sections? I got a fair amount of uphill highways on my daily commute to work, and the car can't for the life of it go any higher than 120 km/h.

On a side note, it will be a fun project to work with, since there is next to NONE who even thinks of modifying micra's in my area at all. So when I blast past them on the highways sounding like it does, I get some heads turning :p And some mates of mine who works at Schmiedmann (BMW specialist) had a good laugh when they saw the air filter in that car :wasntme: 99% of the micra drivers here are retired pepole who can't even go past 40 km/h

Perhaps a little to-do list will be in order:
Add 1,3L cams
Sports exhaust
Front bumper with fog lights (perhaps yellow covers on them?)
Compmotive rims (type to be decided)
Wald bodykit (No distributors here in Norway, so I have to travel to Denmark to get it)
New copper core ignition cables
SR20 inlet manifold (unsure as of yet if I can find it cheap)
Space out rims
Coilover set
New speakers (got myself a new head unit, and the speakers just wont do :( )
clear side indicators
Respray (either black, white or two toned)

I got another project car (1992 Vauxhall Omega A if any are interested) so it won't go as fast as I perhaps would like, but thats life :p

So I went to the junkyard a couple of days ago, and Lo behold! First think I saw when I walked through the gate was a Micra! I asked the guy working there what engine it was, and it was a 1,3l! 1 hour, a lot of blood (bad tools :( ) and sweat later, I got myself a set of new cams! I delivering it to a specialist shop tomorrow so I can get it a bit more lift out of em ^^ I'm contemplating if I should go back and yank the power windows out of it as well, since my car don't have it.. shame the car didn't have a front bumper, since I want one with fog lights attached..

Now a question, are the wiring for the power windows already laid in my car, or do I have to get it from the other?
