Flywheel fitting?

Right here is the story so far:

Picked up my lovely lightened flywheel from http://www.autosprint.co.uk/ (defo. recommend, top bloke) about a month ago and now i actually have a day to think straight, i decided i would go about finding somewhere to get it fitted, so i phoned round some garages in my local area and further a field.

I knew it would be a grey area but i cant find anywhere willing to take on the job. No suprise really but thought it would be simpler than trying myself.

Anyone undertaken such a task on a k11 with success or recommend a place that would?

Ta.

if you have never done anything like a gearbox change or that you'll find this difficult for trying the first time, the wheels will have to come off, driveshafts out, disconnect loom, remove gearbox, remove clutch, remove flywheel, fit new flywheel, repeat the process backwards :p 3-4 hour job mate

give yourself a couple of days to be safe if planning on doing it yourself...its an irritating but easy enough job to do, though quite daunting (at the first try) as youre effectivly emptying half the stuff that makes your car work lol.

Depends how confident you are and what tools you have at your disposal.

The manual box is alot easier to shift about than the autos...not that, that helps you but it at least will give you something to think about while doing the manual :D

if ya had been near id would hve took it on theres too many garages who wont tke on anythin harder thn a service lol the gearbox will be stuck on the dowels

Yeah cheers stani & Solarice been studying the haynes it does look a bit daunting but one thing about haynes manuals is you always (or i do at least) get that feeling after doing a job like 'oh, well that was easier than they said lol'. Thats what i found on me old bike anyway as i did a lot more things on that :)

Cheers jowley if there is anyone else willing give us a hollar, one thing i dont get is i tried a few clutch specialists and one that claimed to be a gearbox specialist and half the responces i got were frankly impolite, like i was some chav going up to a branch of kwik fit asking if someone could drill me backbox

know what buy a new clutch mate, then ask a garage to fit the clutch to your car and while they are there to put on the flywheel??? :p to get my new clutch fitted years ago was around £80 i think

Robb i guarantee you'll get the same internal "was that it" response, if you have a shot at it... :D

You'll need a special sized socket (nothing that special about it tbh, its just big ), for the hub nuts...though i cant remember what size it is now.

Probably the two most annoying jobs is getting past any rusted bolts and refilling the oil, if you go down the route of driveshafts out etc.

I thought about that but the cars only done 32,000 miles, 15,000 by me in the last year. :) Dunnno when it would actually need replacing i just didnt think this would be such a problem lol.

its up to you, most garages will say yeah to doing a clutch then just hit them with the flywheel aswell...then the clutch you wont have to worry about for another 32,000 miles if thats how long that ones lasted? or just get a haynes and some tools and have a go yourself, driveshaft nut is something like a 28-30, and youll need a torque wrench etc etc

its quite an easy job if you know what your doing, just make sure you drian all the box oil first lol. i forgot and when i took the shafts out i got oil everywhere!

Driveshaft nut is a 30mm, also you can buy a good clutch for about £35, it could last another 70k miles or another 5k. Depends how you drive and what the cars used for, its just easier to change it whilst the box is off.
Also your find you may slip the clutch more to get the car moving with a lightened fly.
