can this be fixed?

Hi
My C reg Micra was broken into the other night. Someone seems to have tried to hotwire it, and now it's a mess.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if I could fix it by soldering the wires back into place? My friend took these photos and offered to solder, but we don't know which wire goes where.

As pictured, there are 5 wires loose, and one half of a brown socket with 5 elements exposed. We're assuming the 5 wires connect to these.

Is it possible to solder, or do I need the other half of the brown socket? (which is missing)

Thanks for any help

Lovin the brown interior lol
If i were you i would get a new plug from a scrapper and the colours should just match up.

Car thieves, utter scum. Sorry to hear about yer car m8. At least the b######s didn't manage to take it. Maybe a Haynes manual could give you details as they have electrical schematics in them (Y)

you con solder them but if the solder comes loose you could end up with the starter motor coming in randomnly or other wiring faults so i get another plug and wire that up

if you need any of the wiring theres a prefacelift in the scrappys near me, pm me if you need anything ;)

You should use separate crimp connectors like these:

I'll take a look at wiring latter and post which wire goes where.

Yep, preferably find a pre-facelift as the wiring may have changed on the later ones. That plug with the bent bits will just unscrew. Throw it away and get another one, and fix the cables using the clip things shown above :)

Car thieves are complete *******

Yes, the colours are different and I can't find the right wiring diagram in the Haynes manual. There is a procedure to find out how to connect the wires, but the easier way is to replace the plug.

as said just get a plug and re solder the wires 10 min job, or if you could find the diagram in the book use spade connectors as pictured above.

Scum did this to mine a few weeks ago but in my case the ignition barrel was pulled apart, luckily all the bits were lying in the footwells so I put it back together. The bakelite(?) part with the 5 contacts was out along with the contact plate, springs and ball-bearing. However, the plug is intact so if it would be helpful to post a photo of it showing the wire colours I will do so. Mine's a facelift (G-reg) but I would think the wiring is the same?

As for the trim round the column, I used epoxy to glue mine together and sprayed it.

Cool, thanks for all the replies.

I'm up the creek with no paddle now as time has really caught up on me: the MOT has expired, and the tax expires end of May.

Obviously I can't tax it without MOT, and I'm never gonna get the plug and get the car moving to go to a garage to get MOT in time to tax it :(

To declare it as SORN you can't keep it on the public road and I have no driveway -so I'm bu88ered. (V. limited funds so can't get it towed.)

Wish me luck!

Thanks for checking dude.

I don't suppose you could post the procedure? It's just I've got to get the car going ASAP to get it to someone's driveway so i can declare SORN while I get the plug -otherwise I assume I might get clamped/fined/crushed or some such!

Here is the sketch:
sketcht.jpg

The table shows which wires are connected when you operate the ignition switch. There should be one 2.5sqmm wire (thicker than others) and it's the battery +. That one should be connected to the lower row closer to the steering wheel (upper row, left column on the sketch). You need to emulate the ignition switch by connecting the wires manually. After several trials you should be able to guess how to connect the wires to the plug. If you could at least get to turn the ignition on, you might push start the engine.
