Any reason for this??

Right long story short, the alternator packed up on sunday last in my st so I took it out got it reconditioned and got it back today put it in and the idling is all over the place , just keeps hunting reving between 500-1200rpm? Now the battery was disconnected would this have caused the ecu to do anything like reset itself?

It was the battery was gone aswell,cars mint again ha
