Almera tino rev hunting

Need some help, a friends car from cold start up revs go up and down until heated up and then same again when revving. The car kangaroos quite a bit he says. On a mac tool it says random misfire but it doesnt seem to be injectors/coilpacks/sparkplugs.

Ive read it could be timing chain/cam sensor/crank sensor

Any help is appreciated as ive got no replies on AOC. its a 1.8 also

We had that exact problem on a 1.8 Almera N16 we bought. It was on 134K. Whats hte mileage on the Tino?

It was throwing up faults for coilpack (changed them) problem still there, changed a faulty injector (helped a little bit) but then it flagged up cam sensor (changed that but to no avail).

To be certain of the stretched chain, pull the rocker cover and timing cover and measure the tensioner. If it protrudes more than 10mm then its stretched.

Ok, he has an mot soon so ill have to check that before it. 10mm as in play on the chain?
