Admiral...Inconsistent?

Brutal Honesty
Rung Admiral to declare my coilovers, yesterday they said it would be £22 for manufacturer parts and £60 for non-manufacturer lowering. So I told them to save both quotes and i'll call them back today.

So I finally rung them today and once I got through security that "£22" quote never existed and it was a £60 fee. Eugh, so I agreed to pay it. Gave Admiral my card details and got the usual "you should know that modifications not declared are blah blah blah". The computer system froze whilst on the phone to them and was put on hold. After that they said it would be £17.50 to pay. What? I'm not complaining, but it seems their "quotes" are so inconsistent?

I've heard this with other people. Just wondered if anyone else had experiences with Admiral.

Admiral...Inconsistent?
That should be their dictionary definition.

I hate them, they are so bad for things like that, the same with their online quotes. If you edit a quote and save it without making any changes, it can actually reduce the premium!

I've been with Elephant and Bell since I started driving (same company as Admiral) and they always pull weird stuff like this. Ring one day and they'll give you a quote, ring a week later and it'll be totally different.

Luckily when I picked up the black SR, I got a quote 3 days before and they said they'd give me back £140 for swapping my Fiesta Zetec S insurance over to the Micra. Happy days, I thought. Went and viewed the Micra, bought it, before I left I rung them to get the insurance changed. It had changed to a £200 rebate. I was pretty chuffed!

Admiral suck. I forget the cost now but they wanted me to pay a fair bit more, (like 20%), when my 1.3 GX was converted to LPG. Even though it had to be and was installed by an approved company it was still an additional premium and it took them a while to make their minds up how much in the end.

When questioned why they told me it was more dangerous than a fuel tank confirming to me that they know nothing about LPG systems. Ironically I have 5years no-claims with them, which I expect I will have fun making them honour next year when I require insurance again.

I hate to deal with fools, I have a funny feeling I will be opting for someone else as there are plenty of insurers who add nothing for such things.

When I started my policy with them, I told them about my partners accident so they went through her history and was fine with it, 3 months left on the policy they send me a letter saying my premium has gone up by £300 because I didn't tell them about a second accident that she'd had, which was news to me and her

Safe to say although for me even during my accident claim they've been good I won't be using them again

I pretty much have to use them. Easily 500 pound cheaper than anywhere else.

I hope to not deal with these clowns for an accident.

I discovered the other day I have NATS, so thought I'd best tell them that. Surely, a good thing having an immobiliser. They even tried getting 15 quid from me for that! Told them to poke it and in the end the guy just cleared it.

swinton are the one to watch i paid my monthly installment and then they cancelled my policy on my capri i was stopped and told i had no insurance i was addiment i did argues with the officer show him papers then they impounded the car then gave me privillage of paying £170 to take it away and 150 per day it was in there for 2 weeks also had to go court and pay £200 fine

Ahhh the classic "hunter referral". I got one of these when I accidentally gave the wrong date of my accident, so they tried to add the correct date, IN ADDITION to the wrong date. It took me 2 weeks for them to accept their system had made a mistake.

When my insurance was due last year I got a price from them for a 10 month policy on the MR2, called Sky up and they were able to not only beat the quote, but do it on a 12 month policy too! Shows that it does pay to call around! :)

I had them cancel a policy because of points i never declared. Somehow they think id be stupid enough to declare 6 out of my 9 points! All this come about after an accident then they write to me saying the fee i owed has doubled to £1500 because of this and they need payment in full due as i was paying monthly and that i 'might' get it back if no claim is made LOL

I'm with them for my Corsa & Sandras Corsa on a multicar policy and they've ballsed it all up too. I changed my address OK then added Sandra's car and created her own policy. They sent my new documents through to the new address, and sent her documents through to my old address! Also when she called to change them, they said she wasn't allowed to! I phoned them up, the bloke didn't understand and then just hung up on me. CRAP

apperently they want to put cameras in our cars now aswell as black boxes
supposed you could ask the for footage if you decide to go on track lol

To be honest I don't think cameras are a bad idea but only if they can be used in the event of judging fault in an accident. I work for a car insurance company doing IT and I sometimes have to process car accident footage captured on in car cameras or bus cameras, and it identifies fault easily. I've recently fitted my GoPro2 in my car and it's captured so much dodgy driving (not mine) and i've only had it a week. We also do black box policies but I don't have any involvement in that.

I had a webcam hooked up to my car puter, but this thing is so portable & full HD, it's amazing. Bought it to capture my karting / track days etc!
