I will warn you all now that the images in this thread are quite graphic, and if rust makes you cringe, look away now :laugh:
Picked up another K10 about four months ago, with the sole intention of breaking it up for spares. Once i had it back home i gave it the usual PP7 inspection and thought, na it's too good to break up, even though it would need a lot of welding. But as i'm sure you'll see, nothing is impossible with me.
So the initial pics from just before i gave it an intsensive clean;
Now come the horror pics, starting with a removed sill;
All of that rust had to be cut out and the remaining metal treated before rebuilding the inner sill, inner doorstep and a section of floor out of fresh metal. And all that had to be done before even thinking about making the outer sill. But once it was done and there was finally something to weld to other than thin air, the outer sills were made, which in the case of the drivers side was upto 44 inches long.
Two new sections of rear arch also had to be made;
The drivers side when finished (Y)
As you can see, the drivers door and wing were in mint condition
So they were welded from the inside then fibreglassed and filled on the outside. The sills and floor was also coated in stonechip and the insides filled with waxoyl.
Presently the car is painted and finished, it'll be going in for it's mot next weekend. I don't have any pictures of it finished at the moment, but i'll be pulling it out of the garden and giving it a wash tomorrow so i'll pop off some pictures after that and post em up.
That's another one rescued, allbeit unintentionally lol.
