will the electronic ignition distributor work in place of points

Quick general question will the electronic ignition distributor work in place of the standard points one? If so what do I need to change/add/remove to make it run

dont get a ecc dissy this will deffinatly not work
ive got a elecy one on my G reg car so look around that age of engine

Charlotte won't be able to read replies due to exceeding the 100 post limit for non members. For anyone else interested though, the post facelift K10 has electronic ignition so any one of those, without ECC like fordy says will do. Lower milage the better, they can go wrong around 100'000 miles usage.

dont really agree with the 100K thing. I have never seen one fail without reason!

Well mine had done about 106K Miles and started to play up. Speedle's also did the same at Santa pod, again high milage. It must be down to general wear and tear over such duration / usage. Im not an expert on them though, and never took it apart or anything along those lines, all i know was replacing it fixed my problem!
