What's the going rate for a head gasket fix?

I've been quoted £260 including parts and labour and that includes a skim

Is this about right I have no idea?

It's a 1996 1.0 litre 16 valve micra

May not be alot of help but Ive seen complete engines on ebay for £100.....

which will cost more in labour to fit than a head gasket tbh
and £260 is the going rate for an independent garage

X2 Anywhere between £250 - £300 i've been told.

depends on the area ive found
But I do my own anyway so costs the price of a gasket

top price sounds about right, inc parts and head skim

the gaskets what about £25-30? skin £40? plus all the hassle well worth it if you dont have the time equipment to do it yourself.
