What is it?

Hiya. I require some help identifying a "thing" on my Micra K12 engine. It seems to be some kind of electrical valve, with two pipes attached. It sits at the right hand side of the engine, (nearside) on top. Attached to a bracket with one bolt. One pipe comes from (god knows where, somewhere deep in the nether regions of the back of the engine) the other goes to the top of the cover. I know that some people will probably deride me for asking such a (silly) question, but remember. We all had to start somewhere. I am no mechanical dunce, but this has me baffled...

Thanks in advance for any replies...

Your best to take a good clear photo and make sure you can see as much as possible.
Other members will give a good idea of what the part is you are unsure of.
(Its always best to ask if your unsure)

It's a solenoid vacuum valve. Good luck!

Many thanks Alin2225. Being a bit of a "tinkerer," I tend to be curious about things relating to my car and engine. I find myself wondering if sometimes things are over complicated. For instance. I run the engine with the pipes disconnected, and it didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Normally you should notice a difference on the idle speed. It goes from approx 800 to more than 1600/1700 rpm if everything is ok.
